Plot Summary:

A time-traveller is gifted with a melon-eating (gossip) system. Through this system, she discovers she is part of the imperial family as the Grand Princess's daughter who was switched at birth. Upon entering the palace, she uses her system to help her family and the empire thrive.

The system looks like Eve from Wall-E.

This is the best, stress-free, melon-eating system plot ever. Without romantic side plots for our FL, she solely focused on the whole melon 😂😂😂 Emperor Qingyan sounds awesome.

Every girl in the capital picking up men like they're stray cats was almost as hysterical as that one ministers house being on fire every other day 😂😂😂 Poor guy couldn't think of a better (although particularly fitting) excuse to leave court.

The crown prince just needs to find a female general to marry. He clearly has a type, he's just being strung along. Be proactive. Host a banquet at invite the army.

Another great 'stress-free' character setting was her biological brother and the lady she was swapped with being good people that accepted her. Even before she found out she was the Grand Princess's bio-daughter, FL sensed she was a good person with the help of the system. There can always be more flowers in the garden.

The emperor deserves his own flowers. Every facial expression was spot on. Playing both himself and Prince Heqing, he really shined in that scene.

Plot:

At the age of nine, the Eldest Daughter (FL/legitimate daughter) of the Gu Family dies along with her mother (Wife of General Gu) and her maternal family (house of the Prime Minister). This was a scheme orchestrated by General Gu, his concubine and the Second Daughter of the Gu Family (illegitimate/concubine's daughter).

Our FL suffers through 5000 challenges to earn a Rebirth Pill.

Upon rebirth, she uses the many skills she acquired during her challenges to save herself, her mother, and her maternal family from the same tragic fate.

Short Drama Comments:

I loved this so much.

FL was adorable, ruthless, hilarious, and stylish
ML was the perfect helper.
FL's mother needs therapy. Her head wasn't on straight until 1:44:00
FL's father was doomed from the moment she watched him standing outside his entrance as the carriage rode away. If looks could kill, he would've been six feet under by then.

I'm glad FL's maternal family was so caring and supportive. They trusted FL enough to follow her plans and they knew to cut their losses with FL's mother who was clueless and frustrating for a whole hour and a half.

Wonderful drama.

By now, the audience has deduced that ML is trying to bring FL back to life by performing a ritual to put her soul in the evil princess's body. We know, but FL doesn't know.

40:40 *sigh*

Unless it disturbs the spell/magic/ritual/whatever if he tells FL the truth about all he is doing, I really want him to be honest with FL. Write is on a piece of paper for us to see then burn it. Whisper your plans to yourself when you're alone alone alone.

Plot armour will have our mains HEA (happily ever after) together, but if I was FL after all this emotional rollercoaster, I'd DIP. Or at least try to.

I'm getting painful flashbacks of Eternal Love where Ye Hua and Su Su during Bai Qian (Su Su)'s love trial. Terrible misunderstandings lead to BQ/SS's death. Yeah, this male lead couldn't prevent FL's death, but he can prevent her mind from going off the rails.

I hope she doesn't have memories of her past life or ghostly time. I hope she is allowed a clean slate with no memories and a chance to start her love story 'from scratch'.

**Edit after the end**

Love and Redemption also comes to mind after finishing this drama. I can't remember the full/or correct details of the drama, but (spoilers for those who haven't watched it six years later) Martial brother (Liu Xueyi's character) was obsessed with Xuan Ji (Yuan Bing Yan's character) when XJ was still the General/King of the Asuras. Martial brother turns General/King into the Heavenly God of War against their will, afterwards they find out when happened to them and they are punished by Heaven. In their tenth reincarnation/tribulation, they are Xuan Ji (also Heavenly God of War, really General/King of the Asuras). Because of Martial brother's obsession, XJ lived on as other people against their will. In that case, martial brother is the bad guy, but if he were the ML people would've made excuses UP and DOWN about how his devotion/obsession allowed him to do the impossible.

EXTREMELY DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES AND STORYLINES, but I still don't like the idea.

In this drama, ML's love/obsession/devotion has us watching him cosy up to a psycho princess to bring his wife back to life. Let her rest in peace.

You wanna avenge her, sure.
You wanna leave the empire with a better ruler, okay.
You wanna stake care of her parents until their death, absolutely.
Bringing her back to life at the expense of your well-being and life span, Nah. Nah.
Do the first three, then end yourself. Meet her on the road to reincarnation. Find each other in another life. Please.

I think this kind of plot doesn't work for me. At all. So much hugging and touching with someone who had your wife and countless others killed. I could never. Even if it meant my love would be returned, I'm not this devoted or crazy.
