Taymor McIntyre, a rapper also known as "Tak-K 47," was sentenced to 80 years for his second murder conviction in Texas on April 15, 2025.

McIntyre is best known for his song, "The Race," which appeared on Billboard's Hot 100 in 2017. McIntyre is seen posing with his wanted poster in "The Race" music video, which, as of this publication, amassed 250 million views on YouTube.

He had previously been convicted in 2019 for the 2016 shooting death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker southeast of Fort Worth, Texas, and was sentenced to 55 years in prison.

Texas Senate passes bill prohibiting using SNAP benefits for junk food!

An advocacy group called Make Texans Healthy Again (MHTA) praised the move by the Texas Senate in a news release as a way to keep people from using benefits to buy soda, candy or other “ultra-processed products with no nutritional value.”

SB 379 now heads to the Texas House before it is put before the governor. If passed, the bill would take effect in September 2025.
