For those of you that have been following the news about Unity, how do you feel about the latest announcement?
I'm happy that they walked back their position but I don't like that they kept the online every 3 days requirement, and the fact that they left the runtime fee in there makes me think that they're just easing us into eventually having that play a higher role in the fees that we pay as developers.
Overall I don't think their current terms are bad, but I'm still not super optimistic about the direction of the company. There are a lot of things that I did ignore before because I wanted to be optimistic about this tool that I was investing in, but I feel like I'm more realistic about what the company will try to do in the future and I will be paying much more attention to future updates and putting them under more scrutiny.
Curious to hear what you think. If you've used Unity do you plan to continue? If you were thinking of using Unity, have your plans changed?
Currently working on a few new tutorials including one on the musgrave texture. If you have any ideas for future tutorials that you'd like to see let me know in the comments.
