At first, I was against the idea of playing Chaos Edition because it seemed unfair and dumb. But it turns out the concept got a total overhaul this time. This new version actually comes with a lot of strategy as you pick and choose your poisons! Thanks to @Meta_Dedede for getting the ball rolling on this idea!
The other thing I want to say is about my playthrough of Transcending the Rainbow. Part 24 is unfortunately a muted episode with no commentary. That's because I was an idiot and didn't realize my mic wasn't picking up volume. Since Kaizo stuff is hard, I don't feel like replaying the star I did lol. So that episode is gonna suffer. Apologies guys!
Once in a generation, a legendary player with insane genetics emerges. This time it's this Korean guy, Youz512. This guy is so busted that all the other 250 million sperms probably stayed home that day. He beat Transcending the Rainbow as his first kaizo hack, and now he is cooking on IoC. At first I was skeptical, but then I saw he was a Korean guy and we all know Koreans are God-tier at everything.
I remember people saying you gotta beat 5 kaizo hacks otherwise you'll get clapped by Stars of the Beast 2. But now people are just built different I guess. Also, maybe it's because hacks are better designed now, so even if they are really hard, they are at least fair. I will be interested to see Youz tackle IoChaos reds. It's the hardest thing outta TTR and IoC by a country mile. IoChaos vs a Korean guy, place your bets!
Lads, Blooming Blossoms was an absolute treat the whole way through. With 9 worlds and 2 secret worlds, this hack had a whopping 56 levels to offer. And yet, Spiders managed to keep the visuals, style, and atmosphere from ever becoming stale. Apparently, Spiders is about to learn decomp for his next hacks. I'm too dumb to know what that means, but it sounds like he is about to go Super Saiyan 3 when it comes to hacking. Kaze can suck it because there is a new GOAT in town!!!
The only negative thing is that when you turn a 3D sandbox game into a sidescroller, you do limit yourself as a hacker. There was not much variety with level structure because of this limitation. But hey, Spiders still cooked with the gimmick for sure!
Fuck this hack man! I am leaving for a trip tomorrow morning and I was planning on getting KBR1 done before I leave. I was making great time, until I reached the absolute trinity of Bullshit levels (C14, C15, and B3). These 3 courses are some of the most unfair abominations I have ever played. I am gonna say it, this hack is actually worse than Stars of the Beast. It genuinely is. I hate this hack and there is damn good reason no one plays it anymore. The only 3 hacks worse than KBR1 are TAIC, LU1.5 and FM.
B3 reds was the final straw that broke the camel's back. It should not be a bad star at all, but I have died like 20 times to invis walls (oftentimes 7-8 minutes down the path). Whatever, guess I'll have to muster through this torture when I get back. Then I want to play an actual well-put together hack, SoR. This hack really is negatively affecting Lebron James' legacy.
Is this the best remake of SM74? Is it even a remake of SM74? Idk, there were a lot of moments that felt way too similar just to be a coincidence. I played through the hack today and I was feeling it! The only bummer is that everything is REALLY hidden (or I am just clueless). When there were 2 reds underneath the MC course, that really set the tone early. I bet Crash would have a couple of suggestions on things to tidy up here and there.
Visually this hack was popping! SM74 levels were always so tight and compact, but these stages finally have some breathing room. Well, I would definitely recommend checking this hack out! It's way better than overrated garbage like TTR or KBRX (I just shamelessly mentioned hacks that Andrew likes).
Hey Cody and Meta_Dedede! So, I believe Cody mentioned that he was looking for suggestions on what LP to play next. I am somewhat in the SM64 community, and these are some hacks I've taken notice of lately.
Blooming Blossoms (casual) - This game out like 2 months ago and got good reviews. Usernamesarespiders is a creator I trust.
The Patchmaker's Workshop (casual) - Came out 1 month ago and everyone was gushing about it. This is a hack with a lot of coding behind it.
Mario Adventure 2 Demo (casual) - A new hack that set the record for most stars in it (515). As the name suggests, it is like Sonic Adventure 2 but in SM64
King Boo's Revenge 2 (Kaizo) - This hack has been around forever, but I just wanted to throw a kaizo in. Most people agree this is the best kaizo hack out there.
SNR Summer is off to a hot start, and it isn't even Summer yet! However, there is one thing I might end up regretting. I saved all the big hard girthy levels for last.... The honeymoon period of C14 and QQ is over, and now I'm heading into a shitstorm with my mouth wide open. Usually, I like to take out the hardest level early, but these 3 remaining stages are all contenders for the big daddy of SNR. I will most likely choose C12 next. That seems like a course you would not want to save to the end. Just look at Morningstorm right now; that guy is throwing money at people to get C12 changed.
To beat SNR, one must live a life void of any temptation. That means no drugs, no alcohol, no sugar, no orgasms, and no caffeine. Sometimes I also head into a nearby forest and play out the stars mentally in my mind. Then I can calculate every possible death and the means of avoiding it.
