Nature Bound

Basin Depot Cabin.
The oldest cabin in Algonquin Park.
This historic cabin was built in 1892 by The McLaughlin Lumber Company.
It's original use was a hospital during the diphtheria epidemic.
Six men perished in this cabin from the diphtheria epidemic and are buried along the shores of Basin Creek.
Their graves are still maintained to this day.
The cabin then went on to be a harness shop and then as a schoolhouse.
In total 10 cabins were on site including a blacksmith shop, a post office and the Basin House with a bar and accommodation for the loggers.
Due to Ontario's policy of demolition the site was bulldozed and all history was lost except this last remaining cabin.

Nature Bound

Cow Moose in Algonquin Provincial Park.
She stood and looked at me for about 5 minutes before she walked off the road.
Then as soon as I put my camera down a calf walked across the road to join her.
It doesn't matter how many times you see one, you still get captivated by their sheer size and strength.
With only a few steps into the forest she's gone.
