The training of men for the gospel ministry is a sacred trust committed to the local church. It cannot be adequately fulfilled by academic institutions alone, where individualism and anonymity often prevail. We must return to a model of life on life discipleship, where a man’s calling is tested and his character is forged under the oversight of faithful shepherds. This is the vision behind our new initiative to raise up future pastors.

If we are submitted to the Lordship of Christ, we can trust the desires He places in our hearts to guide our decisions. True waiting involves working out our salvation with fear and trembling, knowing it is God who works in us.

Dear church family,

Pastor Josh and I have been monitoring weather reports and forecasts all day, prayerfully trying to make the best decision we can regarding tomorrow's worship schedule.

One source that seems to be especially trustworthy and free of hype is Space City Weather. The latest report (3:45 pm) indicates that large areas of the city (pretty much anything except toward the coast), including our area (Spring/Woodlands) will be hazardous for driving all day tomorrow. The recommendation is no travel except for emergencies (spacecityweather.com).

You know the priority we place on public worship gatherings. We would never want to cancel worship services. You also know the fickle nature of Houston weather, so we are all aware that we could wake up in the morning to something different than what has been forecasted. But given the time necessary to notify everyone, and what we now believe to be the wisest and safest choice, we have decided to cancel services tomorrow.

The next time we meet, then, is for Truth and Love next Friday evening at 6:00 pm. Please spend the Lord's Day tomorrow in a way that reflects the worship of our great God. Seek His face with your family in prayer and Bible study. Pray for the Truth in Love conference and come on Friday anticipating what our God will do in our hearts.

Perfect love casts out the torment of judgment because our judgment fell upon the Savior. While we heed the warnings of Scripture as essential guardrails for our souls, we rest securely in the finished work of Christ.

The world is filled with unrest, from local politics to global conflicts. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the drama. Yet, Christ calls His people to a different standard. In John 16, Jesus promised tribulation but assured us of His victory. We must not engage the culture like those who do not know God. True peace is found only in Christ, not in political outcomes. If we lose sight of eternity, we lose our ability to navigate temporal realities with faith.
