Human beings are strange. We have the capability to be so loving, kind, and faithful, even being willing to lay down our lives for strangers that we don't know.

On the otherhand, humans can also be so mean, hateful, cruel, and evil being willing to sacrifice other people without a second thought. They can become more like programmed robots ready to remove everyone who gets in their way of what they want.

Anyone is capable of anything! Look at the person of Saul who took Christian lives. But then, he became Paul who laid down his own life for others. Then there are those who start off good and virtuous before devolving down a dark path. This includes priests and pastors who served God with vigor and then did abominable things giving into demons.

This is why it's SO important to stay very close to God who is the ultimate source of goodness, truth, peace, beauty, and love. How many priests started well only to become too busy in their vocation. This caused them to start neglecting their prayer life whereby they began losing the graces needed to stay in Christ and conform their lives to his. Rather, they gave him to sin and compromise little by little as we all do. So this goes for all of us. If we live in the flesh we will reap corruption to the flesh as it says in the book of Galatians. But if we stay close to God and live in the Spirit, then we will reap to the spirit everlasting life.

We do this through a deep prayer life and living holy for God. Not just in part. Many people think that talking about spiritual things we're seeing a couple of minutes of prayer before bed is the same as having a deep, loving, and abiding relationship with Jesus c Christ. It's not! Our lives are so full of the flesh. And if we feed the flesh too much then it gives birth to a baby called sin and death. This is why we need to be feeding the spirit more often through peace, prayer, spiritual living, obedience to the commandments and doing God's will.

Saint Paul said that he beat and pummeled his own body so that after years of preaching the other people he himself would not be disqualified from the race. He says we need to resist sin to the point of bloodshed.

So, are you remaining in Christ or in the flesh? Are you giving the minimum amount or the maximum? Are you living like the world or like the saints? What changes do we need to make in our lives?
