🇬🇪Eighteen years have passed since the August War, but the memory of those lost, the bravery of our heroes, and the pain of displaced families remains as fresh as ever.
We remember the lives cut short, honor the sacrifices made for our freedom, and stand firm in our hope for a united, peaceful Georgia.
What Georgia lost:

Sovereign Territory: Georgia lost effective control over 20% of its internationally recognized land. Russia took full control of the breakaway regions of South Ossetia (Tskhinvali region) and Abkhazia, including areas previously governed by Tbilisi, such as the Kodori Valley and the Akhalgori Municipality. 

People: Hundreds of people lost their lives, including at least 170 military personnel, 14 police officers, and over 220 civilians. 

Mass Displacement: Nearly 192,000 people were displaced during the war. Tens of thousands of ethnic Georgians were permanently driven from their homes due to post-war ethnic cleansing and remain Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) today. 

Political & Diplomatic Severance: Georgia severed all official diplomatic relations with Russia after Moscow unilaterally recognized Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states. 

Ongoing Borderization: The line of separation has turned into an active physical barrier. Russian forces continue installing barbed wire, fences, and watchtowers (a process known as “creeping annexation”), cutting through local farming communities and detaining Georgian citizens who cross the arbitrary boundary line.

Did you know that the Georgian word for watermelon—საზამთრო (sazamtro)—literally translates to “something meant for winter”?

Here’s the breakdown:
ზამთარი (zamtari) = Winter
Wrap it in the სა-...-ო frame \rightarrow სა-ზამთრ-ო = For winter

1. The სა-...-ო Pattern (Places & Designations)
This frame creates nouns representing a land, place, or establishment designated for a specific group or purpose:
•საქართველო (sakartvelo) — Georgia
ქართველი (kartveli) = Georgian person
სა-ქართველ-ო \rightarrow The land for Georgians

•სასტუმრო (sastumro) — Hotel
სტუმარი (stumari) = Guest
სა-სტუმრ-ო \rightarrow The place meant for guests (Notice the inner “ა” drops out!)

2. The სა-...-ე Pattern (Items, Wearables & Containers)
Switch the ending to -ე, and the focus shifts to accessories, tools, or specific containers tailored for a body part or object:
•სათვალე (satvale) — Glasses
თვალი (tvali) = Eye
სა-თვალ-ე \rightarrow Item designed for the eye

•საყურე (saqure) — Earring
ყური (quri) = Ear
სა-ყურ-ე \rightarrow Item designed for the ear

•საპურე (sapure) — Bread Box / Basket
პური (puri) = Bread
სა-პურ-ე \rightarrow Container designed for bread

Must be very easy logic, you can already guess many words I think 😌
