Embeds, your mental health as a creator and put the pitchforks away!

G'day folk's,

I wanted to tackle some concerns some creators have either come to me about or spoken of in passing about the recent flurry of inflated views and difference between bot and embeds.

FYI I'm horrible at placing sentences/paragraphs etc so yes I've used Grammarly to help put this post in a nice readable format LOL

***This is about a 5-10 minute read overall***


**Embedding, Bots & Live Stream Safety**

A Practical Guide for Content Creators

What Embedding Really Is

Embedding allows your YouTube or Twitch stream/video to be played on other websites (news articles, Reddit, Discord previews, game sites, event pages, etc.).

Important: Embedding is an official and supported feature, not a loophole.

**PROS of Embedding**

**Discoverability Outside the Platform**

Your content can reach people who:

1) Don’t actively browse YouTube/Twitch

2) Find you via Google or game-related sites

Great for:

1) Charity events

2) Game pages

3) Community hubs and social sharing

**Embeds Do NOT Hurt Your Channel**

Embedded views:

1) Count as real views

2) Count toward monetization

3) Do NOT cause strikes or flags

YouTube actively tracks traffic source, not just viewer count.

**Protection Against False Bot Blame**

When embeds are enabled:

1) YouTube is better at classifying traffic as External

2) This helps prevent spikes from being wrongly tied to creator abuse

**Safer Sharing**

Turning embeds OFF can break

1) Charity pages

2) Legit articles

3) Discord previews

Creators who rely on community sharing benefit from embeds being enabled.

***CONS of Embedding (When Issues Can Happen)***

1) Embed View Inflation

2) Some third-party sites auto-load embedded players

This can cause:

1) High live viewer count

2) Low chat / likes

This looks scary, but is usually not harmful

**Confusing Analytics**

External embedded traffic may:

1) Lower engagement metrics visually

2) Make creators panic when nothing is wrong

**Small Abuse Potential**

Bad actors can:

1) Place your embed on a low-quality site

2) Refresh or auto-play it

This is annoying — not dangerous when handled correctly.

**How to Combat Bots & Keep Your Channel Safe?**

#1 Focus on Retention, Not Viewer Count

Algorithms care about:
1) Watch time

2) Viewer retention

3) Engagement after the first minute

Bots fail here automatically.

#2 Monitor Traffic Sources

In YouTube Studio:

Analytics → Content → Traffic Source

Look for:
“External”
“Embedded players”
High external views ≠ trouble.

#3 Do NOT Panic-Toggle Features

Avoid:
Rapidly disabling embeds
Turning off VODs
Restarting streams repeatedly
These actions look more suspicious than embed traffic.

TLDR Takeaway:

Bottom-Line Reassurance for Creators

Embedding does not risk your channel

Most “bot issues” are harmless and auto-filtered

Low engagement + high viewers ≠ punishment

Retention and watch time protect you more than any toggle

YouTube sees patterns, not panic

If you didn’t buy bots, organize bots, or promote them you’re safe.

Random embed traffic and viewer inflation are platform problems, not creator wrongdoing.

DO NOT Start mass reporting a channel without any real evidence. Someone mentioned that this was brought up in a Discord for a bigger Youtube creator and someone said "Just report the channel and move on" This is pretty bad advice because of the talking points above of "Random embed traffic and viewer inflation are platform problems, not creator wrongdoing."

Let's be better creators and treat and protect each other.

Gday folk's- ‪@playwithmoxie‬ made a great post on shoutouts and i wanted to elaborate more via here as well on them. I've told my moderators that shoutouts are NOT needed at all unless a raid comes over or they want to. My moderators are amazing folk's who have their own lives but also keep trolls and feralness out of chat.

Do Auto Shoutouts Really Do Anything?

✅ Pros

1. They’re a polite gesture

Auto shoutouts acknowledge other creators without the streamer needing to stop what they’re doing. It’s a nice courtesy and helps maintain a welcoming vibe.

2. They show support within your circle

If you have a tight-knit group of creator friends, auto shoutouts can signal solidarity and appreciation every time they join chat.

3. Low effort, consistent

You set it once and don’t have to manually shout anyone out during busy gameplay or intense moments.

❌ Cons

1. They rarely convert into followers or community members

Most viewers ignore auto shoutouts. Without context or a personal endorsement (“here’s why you should check them out”), people don’t click the link.

2. They attract “drive-by creators”

Some creators enter chats specifically to trigger an auto shoutout, hoping it gives them free exposure, then immediately lurk or leave.

3. They clutter your chat

If many creators join, automated messages can overpower actual conversation, especially during active streams.

4. They feel impersonal

Because the system fires automatically, it doesn’t feel intentional or meaningful. Viewers recognize it’s automated and tune it out.

5. They can diminish real shoutouts

When everything is auto-generated, a true, heartfelt shoutout loses value — it just blends in with the noise.


At the end of the day you approach your channel how you see fit but i don't mind sharing stuff i wish was shared with me when i first started 6 years ago!

What do YOU do to tackle some of the mental issues you may go through, what ties you down or makes you hesitate to push that live button?

Even thoughts who obsess over analytics go through the same thoughts as those who don't much look at their numbers overall? This relates to ALL platforms, regardless of the title mind you!

Make sure you take care of yourself at the end of the day. Without you, the world is a much dimmer place.

Q. Can demo save data be carried over?

A. Dinkum is released as a Nintendo Switch title. On Nintendo Switch 2, you can play it through backward compatibility. However, please note that it will run with the same graphics and performance as on the original Nintendo Switch.





Q. What content is available in the demo version?
A. The demo is based on PC version 1.0.2, prior to the June summer update. In the demo, you can play for up to one in-game month (28 days) and access level 1 licenses. Multiplayer mode and Creative mode are not supported in the demo build. You can also create only one save file in the demo.

Here's a break down at what it is and how to turn it OFF, or on, mine was OFF by default it seems

***What Is Restricted Mode?***

Restricted Mode is an optional setting users can activate on YouTube to filter out potentially mature or sensitive content. You’ll often see it enabled on shared devices like school libraries, offices, or by parents managing their kids’ accounts.

How to Turn It On or Off

1) Sign in to YouTube.

2) Click your profile icon in the top right.

3) Scroll down and click Restricted Mode.

4) Toggle it On or Off.
If it's locked on, it could be enforced by your network or administrator.


***What It Does to Viewing Experience***

Hides videos that may include mature themes, based on titles, tags, metadata, and community feedback.

Disables comments on restricted videos — even if they’re viewable.

Works on a per-browser or per-device basis, so needs to be configured separately for each one.


***Impact on Your Viewers***

Some of your content may be hidden from viewers with Restricted Mode turned on—especially if it contains themes or language flagged as “mature.”

Comments won’t be visible, which might affect engagement if people watch with Restricted Mode enabled.

If your content is family-friendly (cozy gameplay, couple streams, light humor), you’re less likely to be filtered out, but it’s still worth checking relevance regularly.

This has been around since 2010 but I think it's just now sort of being realized as a potential viewer experience issue where you don't see some of your favorite creators content

G'day guy's- Just a quick update, special message to both my community and fellow creators. As of late i've seen many of my fellow creators posting about not being able to keep up with schedules for a variety of reason's.
