This week's tutorial is for the Rosebud Stitch - a stitch I came up with when trying things out for my wedding shawl. Puff stitches can be a little tricky to master for a beginner so I prefer making extended puffs as I find the tension a little easier to manage.

EDIT 9th August: Thank you to everyone who left kind comments. I am feeling sooooo much better now and almost back to business as usual - I'll be resting as and when I need to over the next few days but will be popping on to do what I can. I am going through the legal process to get the stolen pattern removed, and I was not the only designer targetted so we are supporting each other through this. I apologise to everyone who has left me a comment recently, and I haven’t replied. I have been in a flare up of my health problem since my wedding, and I have been struggling.

Today I had earmarked as comments day but, on top of my flare up, I’ve been told that someone has stolen one of my patterns and is selling it on their own website, so I now need to get this sorted today instead. So I’ve made the decision to take a break from social media - I am hoping it’ll just be for the rest of the day but it might be longer. I have content scheduled on this channel until October so you’ll still be getting your Friday crochet tutorials each week, I just might not be responding to comments for a few days.

For those who speak languages other than English, what are your thoughts on YouTube’s auto-dubbing feature for crochet videos?

If you’ve not come across it before, for the last few months YouTube has a feature that auto-translates videos into other languages with an AI voice. I had a few requests to turn this feature on, specifically from my Portuguese speaking audience, so I have had it switched on for all new uploads for most of this year so far. I can only speak English so I’m curious on if it’s actually any good for crochet tutorials? I did have a comment saying the German voice was bad 🤣

I’ve been getting quite a few comments about my hands shaking slightly in videos recently and I’m fed up with it.

I have a tremor due to my disability. No, it’s not because I’m nervous. I have no control over when it happens, sometimes I carry on filming, sometimes I stop filming.

So here’s a reminder: don’t comment on people’s bodies online, especially when it’s about their disability.

It is not concern or curiosity, it is ableism. Do better.

EDIT: I’ve made the decision to filter and block certain derogatory words and phrases on this channel moving forwards to maintain a safe and non-judgemental space. I’ve also added some community rules that will pop up the first time anyone comments on the channel. Hopefully this will help in future.
