Mars, often called the “Red Planet”, is the fourth planet from the Sun in our solar system. Its reddish color comes from iron oxide, or rust, covering its surface. For centuries, Mars has fascinated scientists, writers, and ordinary people as a mysterious world that might hold the secrets of life beyond Earth.

The planet is home to towering volcanoes, deep canyons, and vast deserts. Its atmosphere is thin and mostly made of carbon dioxide, which makes it difficult for humans to survive without advanced technology. Still, evidence suggests that water once flowed on Mars—and traces of it may still exist today. This discovery raises one of the most exciting questions in science: Could life exist, or ever have existed, on Mars?
