🌟 TODAY'S WORD OF GOD - 10/07/2025 🌟

🙏 First Reading: Genesis 44:18–21; 45:1–5 — Joseph, guided by God, became the instrument to save his brothers in Egypt.

🙏 Gospel: Matthew 10:7–15 — Jesus sends His disciples to preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick. He teaches us to live humbly, not seeking personal gain, but focusing solely on the work of the Kingdom of God.

🕊 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time – COME TO HIM, YOU WHO ARE BURDENED 🕊

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." – (Matthew 11:28)

Today, the Church invites us into the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time—a quiet, sacred pause in our daily lives to return to God and rediscover peace within.

🌿 Though it’s an “ordinary” season, God’s grace is never ordinary. Jesus gently calls: "Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart."

🙏 Today is also the optional memorial of Saint Maria Goretti, a young virgin martyr who chose forgiveness over hatred, purity over resentment. Her courage remains a powerful witness for young people today.

Today, Sunday, June 29, 2025, the Catholic Church celebrates the solemn feast of Saints Peter and Paul, two key apostles of the early Church. This is one of the major feasts in the Church’s liturgical calendar.

🕊 Meaning of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul
This feast commemorates the two pillars of the Church:

Saint Peter: Chosen by Jesus as the "rock" of the Church, he was the first to profess his faith and was given the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven (cf. Mt 16:13-19).

Saint Paul: Initially a persecutor of the Church, he became a zealous apostle after his conversion, spreading the Gospel widely and writing many letters to Christian communities, including the letters to Timothy (cf. 2 Tim 4:6-8,17-18).

Both saints were martyred in Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero.

📖 Readings for Today’s Mass
First Reading: Acts 12:1-11 – The account of Saint Peter being freed from prison by an angel.

Second Reading: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 17-18 – Saint Paul reflects on his life and ministry.

Gospel: Matthew 16:13-19 – Jesus asks His disciples about His identity and grants Peter authority.

The liturgical color for priests today is red, symbolizing the blood of the martyrs.

🕊 Reflection
The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul calls believers to live with strong faith, courageously bearing witness to God in all circumstances. The community prays for one another, just as the Church prayed for Saint Peter when he was imprisoned (cf. Acts 12:5).

🕊️ The Meaning of the Feast of St. Aloysius Gonzaga
St. Aloysius Gonzaga was born in 1568 in Italy to a noble family. From a young age, he showed a deep love for God and decided to dedicate his life to Him. He joined the Society of Jesus and lived a life of purity, prayer, and service. He passed away in 1591 at the age of 23 from the plague while caring for the sick. He was canonized in 1726 and is the patron saint of students, youth, and young people.

🕯️ Mass and Prayer
On this feast day, Catholic communities often celebrate Mass to remember and learn from the life of St. Aloysius Gonzaga. It is also an occasion to pray for the youth, especially students, asking God to grant them the grace to live holy lives and remain faithful to their vocations.

A Prayer for Peace and Safety

Lord, Creator of peace, we come before You with hearts full of prayer. We ask You to bless, strengthen, and bring peace to all those who are suffering, living in fear and war. Please soothe the pain, heal the broken hearts, and bring tranquility to those who live under skies filled with tension and violence.

Lord, grant us the strength to persevere in faith, even in the face of trials. Protect the innocent, shield them from violence and destruction, so they may live in peace and hope.

We offer these prayers to You, praying that one day soon, all nations will find reconciliation, love, and compassion. Guide the world’s leaders to walk the path of peace, love, and justice.

We ask all of this in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
