This week hasn’t been the best for me, but I did manage to make another custom, this is my Custom LBSC Black Thomas. I used a matte black for this. Thomas and I managed to paint the wheels without having to spray paint. A lot of people interpret Thomas as being number 105 or 106 but since it’s my preferred choice, I went with 105 because I like the idea of Thomas being the first of the E2 class to have the extended tanks. I wish I could cut the splashes off, but thanks for the body being held on with rivets. It’s not really possible so I chose to leave them black. Regardless of my flaws I really liked how this custom turned out, he will also be showing up in that eventual showcase video I plan to do once Gordon is finished.

Hey everyone, I decided to show off a simpler custom that I made today, it’s my custom Metal Collection “Origins James”. I basically bought another. James took him apart, sanded him down, added an undercoat and painted him black with red lining. while I wanted to base him on the TVS depiction of his black livery, I ultimately decided to base him on the illustrations which depict them with a black dome and without a number, I kinda like it that way, though I did consider giving him LMS lettering on his tender since the L&YR was absorbed into the LMS in 1923, but ultimately went against it as I don’t think they would’ve cared to even paint the lettering on his tender. Once again, this is isn’t perfect, but I’m happy with how it came out regardless. When Gordon’s new face arrives, I will make a video documenting how I made both of them as well as another custom, but for now I’m pretty satisfied with my efforts.

Back with another Gordon Update, I managed to get the running board and smoke box looking away I liked. I was originally going to use Henry’s cylinders, but I ended up making them out of card. I used a chrome marker to add the handrail detail on the side of his boiler similar to Henry and James. The face is just a standard AEG Gordon face repainted to look more like the CGI model. It’s not my best work. He definitely looks rough, but please remember that it’s just a placeholder until I get a beat up Gordon to take the face from, that face is all I need to complete him, I will keep you updated when I get him finished.

Update on Gordon, I bought another Henry to use the smoke box and siderods, I managed to make a support piece for it so that I wouldn’t have to saw anything to shreds again. I glued the siderods to the bottom of the footplate because they kept snapping off, I tried painting Henry’s wheels blue, but I can’t do it right and I don’t trust myself with using spray paint yet so I’ll just use the standard AEG wheels. I’ll still use the AEG face as a placeholder until I get a face from an either wooden railway or capsule plarail Gordon, I’m leaning towards wooden railway but I can’t find a CGI Gordon for a cheap price, I’m thinking of buying a battered capsule plarail Gordon for the job since the face is a similar size. I’m really happy with how he’s coming out and I can’t wait to show him to you when he’s done.
