Tia Ray embodies love, elegance, and independence.

Lauded as one of Asia’s leading voices in R&B, Tia's melodies blend Chinese lyricism and sensibilities with African American musical traditions, hailing influences from Erykah Badu, India Arie, Mariah Carey, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder.

One of her generation’s most decorated musicians, she has released five critically acclaimed albums and performed on global stages including MetaMoon (New York), SXSW (Austin and Sydney), ABU Song Festival (Seoul) and JOOX Top Music Night (Bangkok). Along the way, she has collaborated with the likes of Kehlani, KSHMR, Jason Derulo, as well as peers A-lin, Jackson Wang and the late Khalil Fong.

Tia’s voice has also left a mark on Chinese cinema. Her song “Be Apart”, from The Ex-File 3: The Return of the Exes—a film that grossed over US $260 million in a month—was named the seventh best-selling track worldwide in 2018 by the IFPI.

Have you ever found yourself caught in a cycle of suspicion, urging to see your partner's phone and interpreting every notification as a potential threat?

My latest single PHONE explores the destructive nature of paranoia and insecurity in a relationship. It can be hard to acknowledge your own coldness and difficulty with trust, as well as to recognise that this behaviour is a self-protective mechanism from past hurt.

This song is about that battle inside – loving someone deeply but struggling to truly believe in it. It's a raw look at how unhealed trauma bleeds into the present, turning love into a minefield of doubt. That constant need for reassurance can push away the very thing we're afraid of losing.
