new video dropping tomorrow, one of my favorites i've made. It's a super fun challenge where you have to try and get the most amount of money to "pass" through the Offering Bowl (you can get is as a starter bag in the beta branch). So, if you put in four Healing herbs, you "passed" 16 gold through it, and you have to try and get as much money as possible throughout the entire game.
Try it for yourself and let me know how much money you can successfully gamble!
Hi everyone! Derrick Dice (pronounced dies) back again, and I think I know why I'm so bad at making videos!
It's because I don't particularly love the idea of making *noise*, and a lot of my later Backpack Battles videos kinda feel like that? Maybe I'm being too hard on myself, but I really want to be making something that feels more involved and passionate than that. I want to make *novel* stuff, not just optimize diamond to master backpacks and study meta.
I do actually want to commit to making videos again, but not like, daily uploads like we used to have. I'm working on my life and career a bit too much for that! Instead, I'll be posting a mix of stuff I really like at the times that I feel like it.
Backpack Battles will still be there, but in smaller proportions. I want to be doing more *challenge runs*, maximize for some stat or play on Unranked with some restriction. I really enjoy doing those and putting out just fun stuff! I'll also be doing various games I am generally passionate about, board games like Aeon's End, Spirit Island, Dune Imperium and maybe some stuff like Dome Keeper as well! More novel-esque games where I can flex my voice acting skills. I'll be pushing all non-dicethrone stuff to my subscribers, and trying to keep it accessible for people who are not familiar with the content.
I totally understand that this decision is probably going to result in me losing a good chunk of subscribers, but it also means that I'll actually be uploading! I figured Backpack Battles can't really be something I do forever anyways, I'm just not that kinda guy c: .
I'll be streaming on occasion when I feel like it, and making these streams into videos also when I feel like it. I can't promise much about schedules here, because as I said, my main priority is developing my life, career, and eventually moving in with my partner. <3 ya cutie :3. maybe if i get popular enough i can ditch software and become a full-time youtuber/streamer, but, not counting on that one.
Finally, I am going to be putting a cute lil guy on the screen for y'all to look at. The mouth will open and close and the dice will slowly float in place. My partner drew this for me, and I'll also be collaborating with them when they feel they're ready to get more exposure on their stuff. They're super talented and care a ton about the quality of their videos (a lot more than I do!), so, look forward to that! it's gonna be some good stuff.
Hey y'all. I've been down with HELLA FRICKIN BUSY the past bit, between working on a project I promised to help someone out with a while back and holidays and job training and etc, also my mic's cable broke and I'm getting a newer, more reliable cable.
But, don't fret; I'm planning to be back and better than ever. Once my schedule stabilizes I'll be able to get more videos out, hopefully daily.
So with my videos being watched a mind boggling couple thousand hours, I wanted to make sure that those thousands of human hours I'm consuming are as pleasant as possible. I want to ask about what *YOU* want to see in my videos.
There's a lot of topics, but let's start with, would y'all rather I lean more into competition, or more into zany builds?
The response here won't vastly change my content, I'll always be doing a mix of both, but it'd be good to know what to prioritize, especially for a more "core" audience of my channel.
Hi! Just so you all know, I'm still rattling along making videos! Had a hectic past couple days on top of trying to figure out a good workflow for creating some good moderately-edited videos.
I've always focused on having fun while making videos for you all, which is a surprisingly high amount of people watching me for a surprisingly long amount of time (I have like 14,000 watch hours! Oh jeeze, why are people watching me for that long?)
I want to respect everyone's time and make some quality stuff, but that also comes at some expense in terms of how often I can make these videos. So from here on out, expect about three videos a week as opposed to six. Editing these videos takes about as long as recording them, so, here's the result. I'm very happy with my next video which will be going up tomorrow, which you can see the thumbnail for now!
Hello everyone! I'm at a bit of a crossroads when it comes to my Backpack Battles content between speed and thoroughness.
To be clear, between these options I am still not going to go absolutely insanely slow or fast. It'll still be good old Derrick Dice gameplay, moreso what I'm prioritizing with my commentary. It's never going to be like, TikTok MLG 360 noscope compilations or anything, and I won't get to HBomberGuy levels of thoroughness either.
A big part of the length of videos is going to be me thinking idly and me reorganizing, which I see as the main things to "cut" for me to shorten my videos a bit. I'm going to be cutting out idle thinking time no matter what, and I'll always be going into my thought process to some extent.
Hi everyone! I'm going to be doing more Backpack Battles games, and I *personally* want to do a healthy mix of both ridiculous challenge runs AND tryhard ranked games.
The Ranked Games are, naturally, going to have less funny/exciting premises, because in those games it'll be my objective to *win*. Though, of course, I'll be trying to win in a way that's at least somewhat more interesting than forcing the same build over and over.
The question of the day is, should I label my Ranked games as Ranked in my titles? Or should I just have the game's status quickly mentioned at the start and somewhere in the description?
Hello everyone! I'm working on *branding* this channel a little bit!
At the moment, I've got two concepts I think I'm happy with for a channel name. I like the alliteration of Derrick Dice and Derrick Dies.
The idea behind the death theme is me trying to do things that are maybe a bit reckless and I'll inevitably die to my own hubris. It's not something I'm 100% on, but I like it and I think it conveys my "scuffed" aesthetic.
Aeon's End: Past and Future lacks battle one nemeses and complete starting supplies, which many think is disappointing. So, I made suggested starting supplies and made some battles with twists in them to be used in your campaigns. I hope people enjoy it!
