Unfortunately this year hasn’t gone how I planned out. For starters my computer was completely fried a bit ago (rip to my 4080) and while I do have a backup it’s about a decade and some change out of date really just using it to browse the internet here and there. I do video editing for various Twitch streamers as my source of income and since December of last year I have been out of job in that space so it has been rough to get back on my feet. I was truly looking forward to piecing together something fun and different for the playoff videos this time around. I am happy that I was able to get the 4 Nations Video complete though. With that said I appreciate all the love and support, wish I was able to keep making y’all laugh but I’m glad the older videos are there to look back on ❤️
Hey all as you all have probably seen the NHL has been sending claims on almost every hockey channel right now, my channel is no different unfortunately. My most recent video about the 2011 Cup has been claimed and while I was anticipating to happen as the 2024 Cup video was also claimed when uploaded the reasons this time are quite ridiculous. In the image below obviously the music was claimed and if that was it then it would be no issue I could turn it down, find a different track etc. no real issue. The problem is with the 2nd and 4th claim, the second claim is empty and giving me zero reason why it's being claimed yet the NHL is claiming it for full demonization. The fourth claim is from an Oilers and Jets game in 2021???? Just so frustrating to deal with and while this is still a fun hobby for me I would be lying if I said it didn't bum me out that these have become not monetizable. I put in quite a bit of work for these projects to help tell a story in fun way with jokes and moments maybe some would've missed and to see it always get claimed and when I dispute as fair use it is always insta rejected is punch in the gut. SkillingItUp won't be going anywhere though, full coverage of this upcoming 4 Nations Faceoff and the 2024-25 Playoffs will still be uploaded to my channel because I love this sport so much and can't just step away because of the horrible choice the NHL is making. Thank you all for the support it seriously means a lot!
