“I never met a painting that I didn’t want to tear up at some point.”
This is a thought I have had countless times but thank goodness I’ve never given up on any painting and was surprised many times in the end. Every day I’m looking for my next subject. My work can start in “pen air” a pencil sketch or thumbnail painting, and sometimes a reference photo. My mind will not let me just reproduce a photo into a painting. I need the painting to be an expression of what I see and feel. I can honestly say I enjoy the ride of discovery.
As a recovering architect, that experience has helped in my understanding of perspective and composition. I continually try to reduce the detail in my paintings, but my eyes see more. I feel the need to add or improve, which never seems to end.
It gives me great pleasure to share my art with others. After all, what good is a painting if others cannot enjoy the view?

"A DEATH LOOP DAY"
The death loop has drowned many a kiter on the water. It's when your line somehow gets dangled in your Bar or Harness. Your kite starts doing an endless loop just above the water and holds the Kitter under the water.
Lucky for me my loop was on the beach. I'm excited about the day my plan is to beat my record jump of 12 feet. I ask a guy to launch my kite. Before I can hook-in he's letting the kite go, not good! I manage to get the kite down and he grabs it. I procced to hook-in and relaunch. As I'm looking at my lines, I can see the outside line is twisted around the power cord, not good. I signal him not to launch me, but he does it anyway! The kite takes off into the air with me attached. I hit the beach, and the kite starts doing loops and I'm being dragged along the beach. I know what to do, release from the kite and as I start reaching for the release this guy jumps on top of me to help. His weight has pushed me down into the sand. It's like my face is plowing a field at a gallop.! My release is planted deeper in the sand as were being dragged some 50 feet. The release is finally pulled, and the ride is over.
So, a half hour latter I finally untangle the lines. A guy walks up and asks me if I'm going still going out and I say I believe in "SIGNS" and today I was told to pack to in and go have a Magarita and call it a day.
I will beat my record tomorrow!!!
