A Humble Update—and One More Ask ❤️

First, Jimmy and I want to sincerely thank everyone who donated, shared our GoFundMe, prayed for us, or sent words of encouragement. Because of your kindness, we were able to return home, make it through our temporary stay in the United States, and begin rebuilding our lives. We are deeply grateful.

Our original goal was $12,000, and together you helped us raise approximately $6,500. That may sound like a lot—and it absolutely was a blessing—but the emergency flights, temporary housing, living expenses in the U.S. over the 6 months, transportation, and moving costs used those funds very quickly.

Although our September 1 fundraising push has ended, we are still short of what we need to fully cover our move in apartment and remaining move-in expenses. I hesitated to ask again because I never want anyone to feel pressured, but I also know that sometimes we have to be honest when we still need help.

If you feel led and are able to contribute it would mean so much to us. If donating isn’t possible, sharing the GoFundMe can help just as much by allowing it to reach someone new.

Thank you for helping us get this far. We don’t take a single donation, share, prayer, or kind word for granted. We are moving forward one day at a time, and we are so thankful to have this community beside us. ❤️

The funds will go toward the deposit, first rent payment, moving costs, and the immediate expenses required to get settled in our new home to help replace what was lost in the fire.

🏡 SEPTEMBER 1ST — THAT’S THE GOAL

We have a home waiting for us.

After everything we've been through this year, just being able to say those words means more than I can explain. ❤️

If we can raise the remaining funds we need for our deposit, rent, moving expenses and getting settled, we can move into our new home September 1st.

We have raised a little over $5,000 toward our $12,000 goal and the majority of that was used in the beginning of the year to get us to a safe place back in the United States, temporary housing, flights etc. I am incredibly grateful for every single person who has donated and shared.

Now we're asking for one more push from our community. 🙏🏾

If 100 people gave $10, that's another $1,000 closer.

WE’RE SO CLOSE TO HAVING A HOME AGAIN ❤️🏡
I wanted to give everyone an update on our journey.

Earlier this year, after losing everything in the fire, so many of you stepped forward and helped us when we truly didn’t know what we were going to do next. Your donations helped with plane tickets, clothing, temporary housing, food, transportation and simply getting us through those first incredibly difficult months. Every donation and all of that support is part of this GoFundMe journey, and we will never forget it. ❤️

Today, we finally have something we have been praying and working toward:

We have a home available to us, and we can move in by September 1st. 🏡

Our GoFundMe goal is $12,000, and together we have raised a little over $5,000 which was used to cover our initial flight to move back, temp housing and living in the beginning of the year. We still need help covering the deposit, rent, moving expenses and everything that comes with starting over in a permanent place after losing so much.

I also want to say something from my heart.

A few people have asked why we don't simply go out and get "real jobs"

What people don't always see is how deeply an unexpected tragedy can change your life. Losing your home and belongings in a fire was traumatic, and rebuilding emotionally, financially and physically doesn't happen overnight.

And The Divine Chef IS our work.

Behind every recipe you see are hours of recipe development, testing, filming, writing, editing, photography, social media, answering questions and running the business Jimmy and I have spent years building.

We built The Divine Chef to help people put delicious plant-based food on their tables while saving money, and I am incredibly proud of the community we've created and the people we've been able to help. ❤️

Right now, we're asking our community to help us get over this final hurdle and into a permanent home so we can truly begin rebuilding our lives.
