Uusi sinkku "Blues For You" toukokuun alussa!🎩

Healing Will Begin sai hienoa palautetta Levyraadissa - ja jatkoa seuraa! Mun laulama ja soittama "Blues For You" syntyi yli 16 000 oton urakan tuloksena ja sen myötä meikäläisen sellosoundi kehittyi taas askeleen eteenpäin.

Biisi ei ole bluesia, vaan kyseessä on mun säveltämä, sanoittama, sovittama ja tuottama rock-biisi, jossa tein koko bändin alusta asti uudella ajatuksella – mitä jos teen koko bändin sellolla? Kappaleen melankolinen, tositapahtumiin perustuva tarina tulee myöhemmin avaamaan tarkemmin miksi ”Blues For You” valikoitui biisin nimeksi, vaikkei kappale bluesia olekaan.

Joku voisi kuvitella että rummut onnistuu sellolla parhaiten kun hakkaa sellon kantta – minun mielestä selloa ei tarvitse lyödä saadakseen siitä parhaan rytmin ja funkin irti, joten mä soitin rummut käyttäen versiota mun shufflejousitekniikasta tähän tarkotukseen. Samalla tavalla kuin aikaisemmassa Healing Will Beginissä.

Selloa soittamalla on tehty myös Blues For Youn bassot, sähkökitarat, koskettimet ja viulusektiot. Tässä takana on mun 18 vuoden työ blues-pohjaisten soittotekniikoiden kanssa. Hiljalleen se alkaa mahdollistaa sellolla asioita, joita ei aiemmin pidetty mahdollisina. 🎻

New single Blues For You to be released in early May!🎩

Healing Will Begin received great feedback on Finland’s prime time music show Levyraati – now it's time for its follow-up. Blues For You, sung and played by me, was born out of more than 16,000 takes, and through that, my cello sound took another step forward.

This song isn't blues, even if the title might suggest so. It's a rock song – written, arranged, produced, and performed entirely by me – built from the ground up with one simple idea: what if I made the whole band using just my cello? The song’s emotional story will later explain why the name Blues For You was chosen, even though it’s not a blues tune.

Some might think you can only create drum sounds with a cello by hitting the instrument. I don’t think you need to hit the cello to bring out rhythm and groove. So I played the drums with my cello using a version of my shufflebowtechnique – the same one I used in Healing Will Begin.

The bass, electric guitars, keyboards, and string sections were also all played on the cello. This has been made possible by my 18 years of work developing blues-based cello techniques. Slowly but surely the cello is starting to do things that used to be considered impossible before.
