Finally, after working on it for half a year, I was able to finish “Rencontres I”. This first book of "Rencontres": Mit Grüßen aus der Romantik contains six romantic piano solo compositions/studies, each of which is inspired by the works of L. v. Beethoven, F. Schubert, F. B. Mendelssohn, F. Chopin, R. Schumann & J. Brahms.
I don't claim that any of these pieces are, from a musical and historical perspective, entirely consistent with the signature style of each of the composers. The main aim was to use elements and structures to create pieces inspired by the Romantic era and thus familiarise myself with some of the Romantic compositional techniques and broader concepts, hence the title ‘studies’.
I've always loved Chopin's étude no. 3 (opus 10), it almost feels unholy to do an analysis about it. But I guess there are many things to learn from it, especially melody wise. Enjoy!

One of my friends has started a channel to highlight the music of Flemish composer Karel Goeyvaerts. This is one of my favorite works by Goeyvaerts, and I was lucky enough to hear it live twice. Goeyvaerts is best known for his later serial music, following the example of Anton Webern, and was the first composer to write a work in which serialism was applied to all musical aspects. @KG1923-kg
