The first Remnant Underground of the New Year has dropped, and it has spurred quite a bit of controversy already. The show is in two parts -- the first is on the Trump phenomenon, with special emphasis on Venezuela. The second is about Pope Leo (Francis 2.0?), the Consistory (starts in Rome day after tomorrow), the Ghost of Cardinal Ratzinger, and the spirit of Vatican II.

Touching on Venezuela: let me try to preemptively keep the clans united even in this latest fog of war. First off, compared to the Iraq invasion (which I vigorously opposed), this one’s a piece of cake. Twenty years ago, our country had just been invaded, and the war fever was like something not seen since the aftermath of Pearl Harbor. So, this is familiar territory for me, and I expect tensions to run high.
Secondly, it's not enough to say that Nicolás Maduro was a Communist, and therefore we had the right and duty to take him down. The Chinese COMMUNIST government has a much longer history of human rights violations than does Venezuela, which despite its problems, is still the most pro-life and anti-gay marriage country in South America. Communist China, on the other hand, has locked the Catholic Church down for years as it engages in systematic infanticide. Should we run over and kidnap China’s Communist dictator?
Don’t forget – Adolf Hitler went to war against Communists too (ever heard of the Russian Front?), but that doesn’t mean he was doing God's holy will. So, we need to dig further on this since there are lots of really evil dictators in the world today. How about Canada? Their guy is a socialist who wants a digital ID lockdown and is all in letting MAID put Canadians to death. Shall we bomb Toronto? What about the UK, whose psychotically woke government is now going to jail parents who refuse to put microchips in their newborn babies? Should we bomb London? How many sovereign nations shall we bomb and how many foreign presidents are we supposed to kidnap? Do we really occupy enough moral high ground to police the entire world?
Thirdly, President Trump is being pretty honest about this. He doesn't even claim to have been on a rescue mission in Venezuela. He says he went in to get the oil. He came right out with it, saying he wants their natural resources. He said he also wants to take over Greenland for the same reason. "Yes, but all those drugs out of Venezuela?" Okay, fine. But most of the drugs in the US are coming over the Mexican border. Should we bomb Mexico City?
Finally, Venezuela is a sovereign nation, just as Iraq was a sovereign nation when we invaded it, killed their president (another bad guy), and made everything exponentially worse in the region. We displaced and/or killed millions, which is why our invasion was later declared a war crime. But on Fox News we all saw plenty of Iraqis celebrating in the streets of Bagdad and tearing down statues of Saddam Hussein, which made us feel so oh-so-righteous at the time. So, bottom line -- opposing an invasion of a sovereign nation does not mean you approve of that nation’s corrupt president, or their drug trade, or whatever else is wrong with that nation. We have no more right to change regimes in that country than Putin or Xi Jinping has the right to change ours. Therefore, this is a fairly terrifying precedent. And if I'm wrong, good! I pray I am! But this is how I see it.
Keep the Faith, friends, and don't forget -- the same folks who told us to mask up and get Warp-Speed vaxxed are now telling us to “trust the political science.” I’m sorry, but I can’t do that, whether we’re talking about Ukraine, Gaza, Iraq, whatever. I'm not going to change who I am, but I also don't hold it against you if you disagree with me. These are challenging times, and we've all got to do our best to find the truth even in the fog of war. We’re all human, and everyone needs to blow off a little steam now and again. Dear Friends: Have you ever read the 1954 novel by William Golding about a bunch of schoolboys who survive a plane crash on a deserted island, only to quickly descend into savagery against each other? Dear Friends: This past weekend’s Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage in Rome was a towering success! Five thousand pilgrims, hundreds of priests, several bishops, at least six cardinals, and some of the most powerful members of the media in Rome.
Regardless of where you come down on the long-term ramifications of this triumphal return of the Traditional Latin Mass – after it had been canceled by Pope Francis in 2021 – one takeaway on which we can all agree is this: It’s the Latin Mass that matters… spiritually, historically, politically, and for all time.
Why? Because in and of itself – and whether those attached to it fully realize it or not – it is the most effective counterrevolutionary force on earth, which is why the Revolution has spent centuries trying to destroy it. In the wake of last weekend’s Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, millions of Catholics did indeed unite under the leadership of Bishop Athanasius Schneider and three brother bishops in making a global act of reparation for the “LGBTQ+” abomination of desolation that took place last month in the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome.
The clans united both by participating in the livestreamed Act of Reparation in real time and also by sharing the transcript, news reports, photos, and videos of the event on multiple platforms throughout social media.
In addition, several members of the hierarchy joined their voices to this effort, including Joseph Cardinal Zen who encouraged his many followers on X to make the Act their own over the course of three days:
“I strongly support this. Is the war over? Don’t be silly! Is Pope Leo a traditionalist? Don’t be silly! But an important precedent has been set, one with which the bishops will now have to deal -- if the Bishop of Rome just allowed the Latin Mass in his own Basilica, who are you to ban it in your diocese?
It’s up to us to use this precedent to the fullest extent possible for the restoration of the one force on earth that can lead the world out the present darkness – the Traditional Catholic Faith, the touchstone of which is most certainly the Traditional Latin Mass.

CALLING ALL CLANS: Stand with the Good Bishops!
Dear Friends: Mission accomplished! In the wake of last weekend’s Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, millions of Catholics did indeed unite under the leadership of Bishop Athanasius Schneider and three brother bishops in making a global act of reparation for the “LGBTQ+” abomination of desolation that took place last month in the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome.
The clans united both by participating in the livestreamed Act of Reparation in real time and also by sharing the transcript, news reports, photos, and videos of the event on multiple platforms throughout social media.
In addition, several members of the hierarchy joined their voices to this effort, including Joseph Cardinal Zen who encouraged his many followers on X to make the Act their own over the course of three days:
“I strongly support this. I suggest to all brothers and sisters that, after the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, it would be best to gather with fellow parishioners for three days to recite the attached prayers and perform an act of self-denial or a charitable deed, offering reparation before God for our brothers and sisters who have sinned.”
