Welcome to TheMissedApex!
This channel is all about my journey through the world of simulation gaming, with a big focus on sim racing, hardware, VR and performance.
I test new sim racing games and updates, experiment with VR, benchmark performance, upgrade my sim rig, try new wheels and hardware, and share what I learn along the way. You’ll also occasionally find me stepping out of the racing seat to explore other simulation experiences, including flight and truck simulators.
Expect videos on Assetto Corsa, Le Mans Ultimate, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Automobilista 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Flight Simulator and whatever interesting sim comes next.
I’m not here to pretend I’m the fastest driver on the grid. I simply enjoy the technology, realism and adrenaline that make simulation gaming such a fascinating hobby.

After testing the unofficial DLSS 5 in Assetto Corsa EVO, I was curious to see how it would look in ACC, especially since shadows and reflections have never been its strongest points.
And the results? Well, the graphics look surprisingly good! The reflections, lighting, and even the car interiors look noticeably different.
But there’s a catch...My RTX 5070 went from around 80 FPS to just 30 FPS! 😅

DLSS 5 at ~50 FPS...then I turned on NVIDIA Smooth Motion.
My RTX 5070 suddenly pushed close to 100 FPS in Assetto Corsa EVO. That’s a massive improvement, but there’s definitely a catch: ghosting and visual artifacts.
Is double the FPS worth the trade-off? 🏎️💨

Assetto Corsa EVO 0.9 is out but did we actually get MORE FPS with this update?
I ran the same tests as before on my RTX 5070 at 3440×1440
There are some noticeable FPS gains in 0.9, but one of the tests actually performed WORSE than 0.8.

While racing in VR, finding the right button on the wheel or button box can be...interesting. 😅
So I tried VoiceAttack and mapped voice commands for things like:
Headlights & flashing
Re-centering VR
Traction control adjustments
Camera changes
Pause & more
Just say the command and it happens.
After training the voice recognition a few times, I was genuinely surprised by how useful this became, especially in VR sim racing.
I put together a video showing my setup, how it works in Le Mans Ultimate, and the problems I ran into along the way:

I always assumed the answer was obvious...until I actually tested them back-to-back in Assetto Corsa Rally on the same gravel stage.
The results surprised me.
