Hello, my amazing pals!
I hope you all enjoy today's video! I have a few general things I want to share:

September is always a slow time in the commercial aviation industry, so I was able to take a month-long leave from my real job! Meaning I need extra help with video ideas, so I can take advantage of having the time to make more videos. In every video description, I have a google form, also linked below. Even just a whiff of some chaos can open up a huge story for me! (you all are fantastic at doing this already, so please keep it up!)

Although I closed my paid Bindery, I would like to possibly get the book club going again. If that is something you may be interesting in participating in, let me know in the poll down below. In the past, we've read mainly literary/contemporary fiction, but open to other genres if there's interest.

Last thing is a little embarrassing, but oh well:
I set a goal to reach 40,000 subscribers by the end of the year, and I don't think I'm going to get there. At the end of the day, subscriber count doesn't actually matter, but if a particular video speaks to you, and you feel like sharing it with a friend, it would be so helpful in possibly making my goal!

A week ago, I was ready to take an indefinite leave from YouTube. I was emotionally exhausted in a way I haven't been since I lost my dad. I know there will always be people who don't like me, but the vitriol being thrown my way was unbelievable.

But immediately, I had people standing with me. People who owe me absolutely nothing, but decided to stand up for me anyways. I was absolutely floored by the number of emails, DMs, and comments I received with reassuring words that I didn't do anything wrong. Being able to step away from the vile things being said about me, but knowing I was being defended is what got me through the week.

Please know that I read every single supportive comment, and I am so grateful for each and every one. What started as one of the worst weeks I can remember ended with me being so proud of this community we have. (And I am officially a certified barre instructor, so my week REALLY turned around!)

I debated if I should even address this again, because it is firmly in the past as far as I'm concerned, but I felt like I needed to make sure I conveyed how much I appreciate everyone who believed in me and was willing to go to bat for me. I hope you all know how much it means to have such good people behind me. (In the non-weird parasocial way 😉)

No new video this week, sadly. (This whole training-to-be-a-barre-instructor thing is really taking a lot of my time, lol.)

I promise I'm not going anywhere, I'll be back on my normal schedule within the next two weeks or so, but hopefully I'll get a new video up early next week!

Oh hi!!

Yes, I decided it was time to change my username. I made Book Lover Laura in 2020, before I had any idea that I'd grow any kind of presence, and I've spent a lot of time thinking about changing it. As I keep growing (which still is mindblowing), it's only going to get harder to make the switch to something else.

So here we are! Nothing is changing but the name. You'll be getting the exact same bookish content, but with a name that just feels a little more "me" where I'm at now.
