Proverbs 30:20 says: "This is the way of an adulterous woman: she eats and wipes her mouth and says, ‘I have done no wrong.’"
This verse uses a simple, everyday picture—someone eating a quick snack—to explain a very deep problem with human character. It describes someone who does something deeply wrong but completely refuses to feel guilty or take responsibility.
Here is a breakdown of what this verse means and why it still applies to situations today.

The Analogy: Wiping the Mouth
The verse compares a major betrayal to the simple act of eating a meal.
* No Evidence: When someone eats and wipes their mouth, they wipe away all the crumbs. They are trying to act as if nothing happened, they are trying to act “clean” in their own eyes.
* The Meaning: The verse is talking about someone who can lie, break a contract, or betray a trust, and then completely brush it off. They do not have a guilty conscience. Even better, it describes everyone who thinks they understand Gods Word through their own vain thoughts, and cannot take correction when the real meaning comes.

"I Have Done No Wrong"
The most dangerous part of this character trait is the complete denial of reality.
* Blameless Attitude: This person convinces themselves that they are the victim, or that their actions were perfectly fine.
* Ignoring the Rules: Even if there is a clear rule or a written contract, they act as if those boundaries do not apply to them.
* The Practical Impact: It is almost impossible to get an apology or closure from someone like this. Because they tell themselves they did nothing wrong, they will never admit fault to you. Worse, fault to God.

Why It Matters in Your Life
While the verse mentions an "adulterous woman," the Bible often uses specific examples to teach a broader lesson about all human behavior.
This verse is a warning about people who lack a moral compass. When you deal with someone who can walk away from a commitment without a second thought, the verse reminds you that the problem is within them, not you. You cannot force a person to see the wrong they did if they have already "wiped their mouth" and moved on

August means canning season. The garden is prolific. I been canning so much salsa and pickles, and next will be Sunday sauce.
First year pickling. I love it.
I don’t recommend picking up busha (grandma) hobbies this young though. Very stressful. I’ll crash out.

Psa 119:71
“It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes”

Suffering under Gods hand is never casual and always intentional.

Similarly this passage reads

“He humbled their hearts with hard labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help”
Psa 107:12

In my studies I talk a lot about how God has to drag us in. We don’t call on God or accept Him (maybe you do with your idea of Him, but not the true God) He drags us, and has to drag us because we are all stubborn worms.
