Today is International Music Day. To give it a better ending, here is a re-upload of an archive (2010) recording. It is Chopin's Fantaisie in F minor. It was originally uploaded in two fragments due to video length limitations in 2010, which broke the atmosphere of the Fantaisie. Thus, here is a re-upload as a one-piece piece. What is one of Rachmaninov's least known and most underrated works? One of his most difficult and most philosophically-laden pieces?
Meet his piano sonata No. 1, op. 28. Based loosely on Goethe's Faust, it is a monumental story worthy of listening to the end.
Here is my recording, made at a concert at Scriabin's House in Moscow on February 23, 2022.

12 years ago, I posted a recording of Medtner's Sonata-reminiscenza. Given the limitations in force then, it was impossible to post anything longer than ca. 10 minutes, hence I had to split the recording into two videos, which ruined a lot of the impact of this music.
Today, I post this archive recording again, this time as a single video. I hope the poor video quality will not hinder the enjoyment of the music. Listen and comment if you like!

Dear friends, I feel I must express my utter disgust, shock and anger from the appalling war in Ukraine. It must be stopped. This is a disaster for Ukraine from which she will surely recover, and a disaster for Russia from which she will hopefully recover. Hope to meet you soon here in more peaceful circumstances.
