Thank you from me and the cat!

Okay, so this week this channel hit 3k subs. This is strange. Baffling, even. When I started uploading, I did so solely because I wanted an outlet for my personal projects. You know, the stuff with no clients, no financial incentive, just this need to scratch a creative itch.

I never set out to make it big. Even if I did hit this number at some point, I assumed it'd take a couple of years. (I mean, my instagram has about the same number and I've had that thing for a decade.) So yeah, I'm very much taken aback.

3,000 people is hard to fathom. I'd imagine if every one of you subscribers gathered in the climbing gym, there'd barely be any room to move. I wouldn't even want to think about the collective warmth and smell.

Anyway, I'm truly grateful. Also, it makes me think... Maybe I should actually give this a shot? It sure feels like there's a whole lot of potential. If this is what it looks like when I work on this on the side while still using a very non-climbing-related name, what might happen if I actually focused on growing?

This might mean a name change soon. I've got a few ideas. If I do push through with it, I'll probably unveil it right before the next video.

Speaking of which, I've already started filming a new one. I'm pretty excited for this one. Thank you all for being part of this journey. Hope you all stick around!

I shot a video for EpicTV last month, and they've just put it out!

It's one of the very, very rare occasions where I shot something without editing it. I just filmed 3 SD cards' worth of footage and handed it off to their team.

It's so cool to have contributed to a channel that's been part of the climbing community for over a decade. But also, it's fascinating watching my footage filtered through someone else's post-production process.

I'd like to believe I've developed my own distinct editing style. Especially with montages, I cut and splice footage with a certain rhythm and pace.

For the record, I am by no means criticizing EpicTV. (They were wonderful to work with and I'd gladly film for them again!) It's more of I'm just now realizing how big of a role editing plays in shaping my creative vision. Also, I'm seeing how after fiddling with cameras and Adobe Premiere for years, my style has finally become my own. And I just think that's neat!

What do you all think?

Swing and a miss?

Okay! So, in case you missed it, last week I posted my new video "Resetting my brain in 30 days." It's my first non-climbing related piece, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised that it's also gotten the least traction out of anything I've made. From what I've been told, the algorithm doesn't like such sharp pivots. Or it could also have nothing to do with the algo at all and my audience just doesn't resonate with this sort of content. I can live with that!

For the record, I'm totally okay with the result. I make videos to fulfill my curiosity, to share my perspective, and just scratch this creative itch. Just the mere existence of each of my videos has given me so much satisfaction.

That said, I do care about my audience. I am both surprised and delighted that more than 2,000 people have subscribed to this channel. It blows my mind that my injury video reached over 50k. I never would've suspected that a swollen finger would attract so much attention. Hah.

So, my dear subscribers, I'd love to get your thoughts on what you'd like to see from this channel. Should I stick to my established niche and just post climbing-related content? Should I cast a wider net and just follow whatever topic interests me as long as I tell those stories in the same style? Or... maybe go for something in middle and stick to climbing for now, but consider broadening my scope in the future.

Let me know through this poll! And if you want to express what exactly you like about my work and what you want to keep seeing more of, let me know in the comments.

A thousand subs!?

Okay, this is wild. When I started making these videos, it was because I was tired of making things for clients and wanted to go back to making things for myself. I was driven by curiosity and the desire to rediscover the joy of creation. That was it. Just the fact that I brought an idea into existence was thrilling enough!

I thought I'd post them because maybe there was a chance that other people would find something of value. If a couple hundred saw my work, that would have been cool. I never felt entitled to people's attention and especially not to subscriptions. I figured if people did feel like subscribing, it would be more of a trickle, taking probably a year or so to reach a thousand.

Hitting that after two vlogs though? That was not on my 2025 bingo card. So, thank you all. I really appreciate the support.

I've already started working on another piece and I can't wait to share it with all of you.
