Kazuya has been at the heart of TEKKEN since day one.
From the original Mishima feud to G Corporation, the Devil Gene, his war with Heihachi and eventually Jin, his story has always been about power, revenge and control.
This Character Spotlight goes through the full Kazuya legacy: his story, rivalries, gameplay, signature moves, design evolution and how he changed throughout the series.
Cold. Ruthless. Uncompromising.
The Iron Fist of Darkness.
Which version of Kazuya is your favorite, and which TEKKEN did you first start playing him in?
Hwoarang is one of those characters that always had attitude. Since TEKKEN 3, heโs stood out because of his speed, pressure, and that rebellious energy that instantly made him different from the rest of the cast.
But thereโs more to him than just being the hot-headed rival. His connection to Baek, his rivalry with Jin, and the way his story developed over the years gave him a lot more depth than people sometimes give him credit for.
For a lot of players, Hwoarang is just fun to watch and even more fun to play.
What defines Hwoarang most to you, his rival energy with Jin, his Taekwondo style, or his overall attitude?
Jin has been part of TEKKEN for so long that for a lot of people, he basically grew up with the series.
From TEKKEN 3 onward, his story has always been messy in the best way. Kazuya, Hwoarang, the Devil Gene, the Mishima family drama, all of it.
And what makes him interesting is that heโs never really been a simple โheroโ character. Heโs constantly fighting against what he inherited and trying to become his own person.
Since when have you played Jin, and whatโs your favorite part of his story?
TEKKEN 2 was released this week, on August 25, 1996, on PlayStation in the USA. ๐ฅ๐ฅ
The sequel expanded the roster, pushed the Mishima story much further, and introduced characters like Jun Kazama, Lei Wulong, Roger and Angel โ many of whom would leave a lasting mark on the series.
And some of the details hidden inside TEKKEN 2 still connect directly to TEKKEN 7 and TEKKEN 8 today.
30 years later... what do you remember most about TEKKEN 2?
Your main? Your favorite stage? Or the moment that made the game unforgettable for you?
Released on the PlayStation Portable in North America on July 25, 2006, it became the first TEKKEN game ever released on PSP and remains one of the most content-packed portable fighting games ever made. ๐ฎ
With a huge roster, Team Battle, round replays, classic and updated stages, full character availability from the start, and the debuts of Lili and Sergei Dragunov, DARK RESURRECTION delivered an experience that felt far bigger than a typical handheld game.
