The story of their relationship began on the 13th birthday of her younger brother, Ant. Her family decided to celebrate his birthday on a beach where several of his friends met him to celebrate it. While Ant talked with his friends and their parents organized the party, she decided to walk along the seashore.
She walked along that path, feeling the water wetting her feet as she watched the ocean without paying attention to where she was walking. Then she collided with a person coming in the opposite direction to her, both falling into the sand. She gets back up and about to help who collided with her when she crosses eyes with that boy. A tall young man of her age; tanned skin; blue eyes; He wore a black sleeveless shirt, blue shorts and sandals; he had tattoos all over his body including the neck and eyelids, in the form of tribal stripes; black hair to the neck; and a shark tooth necklace with a lazuli stone in the middle.
Seeing him, she didn’t know what to say, she just turned her eyes to the opposite side and blushes.
“Are you okay? I’m so sorry.” said the boy, apologizing to Fontaine
“D…don’t worry it was my fault. I didn’t notice where I was going.” the girl replied offering her hand in greeting “I’m Fontaine. Fontaine Nekton.”
“I’m Osmosis. Osmosis Jones. Ozzy to my friends.” said the boy shaking his hand with hers
“Osmosis? I didn’t think that word was used as a name for someone. But it’s a pleasure.” she replied
Then the girl’s father appears telling r that her brother’s party was about to start. Will could not help noticing the boy who, despite not knowing him, saw him with distrust and stranger for his tattoos.
“Everything is okay, Fontaine?” said Will seeing the boy
“Yes dad. I was just making a friend.” she said introducing the boy “He is Osmosis Jones.”
“It’s a pleasure Mr. Nekton. You can call me Ozzy” he said offering his hand, although Will kept looking at him strangely “I think I know what you think of me. My tattoos make me look like a criminal but it’s not like that. I swear.”
“Very well, Osmosis” Will shakes his hand with his, goes to his daughter “Ant’s party is about to start, Fontaine. Let’s go.”
She says goodbye to him following her father at the party. Staying alone there. When suddenly…
“Would you like to come?” the man asked the boy, who turned thinking that he was talking to someone else, then points to himself “Yes, you.”
“Ummm… sure. Thank you.” Ozzy accepts with some of shame
Ant’s party is entertaining for him and his friends. They play things like limbo, put the tail of the fish, the game of the chairs, dance and so on. While Fontaine was in a chair drinking some soda, but looking at the horizon since near her was the boy she met on the beach who also drank soda. For a second she turns to see him with shame and blush on her face, he does the same thing more nervous than she does.
“HELLO GIRL!” he greeted ashamed and quickly
That gesture seemed nice to her, who only smiles keeping the blush on her face.
At the end of the party everyone says goodbye to Ant and he and his family return to the Aronnax. Not before Fontaine gives Ozzy a communicator to keep in touch with him.
“Thank you. And when can I see you again?” he asked to Fontaine seeing his communicator
“I don’t know. But until then we can talk. I have to go. It was nice to meet you.” she says goodbye by going to the submarine with her family.
Osmosis stays on the beach watching the submarine dive into the sea disappearing into the waves.
“Good bye, Fontaine.” said Ozzy seeing the sea
The days passed. The Nektons received very strange reports about the sighting of what appears to be -an anthropomorphic shark- hunting near the fishing coasts. They decide to investigate one of these areas until that for act of the destiny, they found it. In fact it is a young anthropomorphic shark having a great white shark-like appearance, only where there is white there is a light blue color and it also had blue stripes all over the body. As expected, the shark swam at full speed from there.
The Nektons decide to chase him into the knights and find out more about him. After hours Fontaine manages to reach it, she sees it directly in the eyes which were blue and strangely familiar. But then she sees on his left wrist a communicator like the one she gave to that boy on the beach and then…
“HELLO GIRL!” greeted the shark making her open her eyes to no more printing power
“Ozzy?!” said Fontaine shocked
Minutes later they were sitting on a sea stone talking about the boy’s origins: A biological experiment in a clandestine laboratory. An aborted nine-week-old human fetus who was injected with shark DNA along with a homemade mutagen. A mutant hybrid.
“So you don’t have a family? Nobody in your life?” she asked him feeling shame for him
“Nothing. I’ve been alone since I have memory. And everyone who knew me tagged me incorrectly. And that almost happened with your dad that day.” he said seeing the sea floor with sadness “But I think that changed. When I met you.”
“When I met you, I didn’t think you were a criminal or something similar” she explained “You looked like somebody… cute.” she blushes
“Do you think I’m cute? But that was when you saw me as a human. What do you think of this monster?” he sees his hands with anger
“I do not see a monster. I see a boy who since childhood has done the impossible to survive on his own. Someone who suffered from not having parents or siblings. He suffered from discrimination. But that’s over.” Fontaine take his hand and see him at his eyes “I’ll be your best friend. And if you need something you’ll know where to find me” she takes the hand where he has the communicator “You can track the location of my submarine. And you can visit me. What you say?”
Ozzy didn’t know what to say. He felt tears coming from his eyes for feeling happiness for the first time in his life.
“Thank you. Thank you, Fontaine.” he said giving the girl a hug, she corresponds to that hug.
Over time, Ozzy has been more involved with the Nektons, especially with Fontaine. She even receives her help when her family confronts pirates. And by the way, Finn felt annoyed and frustrated that Fontaine, his crush, preferred to be with a fish than with him.
Gradually, that between the girl and the shark ceases to be friendship…
One year later…
They met on the beach where they met the first time, watching the ocean, sitting close to each other.
“Ozzy?” she said
“Tell me baby”
“Do you think we are here for some reason?” she asked watching the sea
“What do you mean?” he asked confused
“Having met… As if something united us”
“I don’t know, maybe something really unites us” he said, affirming her point
“Ozzy… I like you… a lot” she said blushing
“And I like you too…” he said, blushing too
“I don’t want to ruin what we already have…” she said lowering her tone
“…What if we try it?” he suggest
Little by little they approach each other and give their first kiss. A moment to remember forever.
