The owner brought the car in, complaining of clutch slip—and with a holiday trip just around the corner, time was not on our side.

So, what causes clutch slip?
The most common culprit: oil contamination or clutch riding.
• Oil contamination happens when oil leaks onto the clutch plate, causing it to lose friction.
• Clutch riding is when a driver rests their foot on the clutch pedal while driving, even slightly. This keeps the clutch partially engaged, causing excessive heat and wear over time.

How to prevent it?
Only press the clutch when you’re changing gears. Rest your foot on the footrest—not the clutch pedal!

We replaced the worn-out clutch with a quality ‪@SchaefflerVLS‬ LUK Clutch Kit from ‪@gsfcarparts‬ and once the repair was done, the customer was taken for a short driving lesson to understand how to avoid clutch riding going forward.

Sometimes, the job isn’t just fixing the car—it’s making sure it stays fixed.

If you drive one of these cars, listen up:

and if you’ve got a 1.2 PureTech engine, this one’s for you…

These engines are known for being nippy and economical, but there’s one common issue that can cause major problems — the wet timing belt.

Unlike a traditional dry belt, this one runs inside the engine oil, which causes it to degrade much faster than expected. We’ve seen belts badly worn well before the recommended service interval. If it breaks down too much, bits of rubber clog up the oil pickup, reduce oil pressure, and can even lead to complete engine failure.

We recently swapped out a worn wet belt and fitted a fresh, reliable ‪@schaeffler‬ INA Cambelt Kit — a top-quality solution to prolong future issues (cannot prevent wetbelt issues unfortunately 🤷🏽‍♂️).

Top tips to avoid trouble:
• Keep on top of regular oil changes (every 6,000–8,000 miles)
• Always use the correct spec oil
• Get your belt checked earlier than the official interval

A little preventative maintenance goes a long way with these engines!

Soo… my lovely Citroen Relay workhorse has finally given up. Safe to say it is finally time to upgrade.
