Quick update:

I’ve been working on another project with Chess.com/Chessable. I expect it to be finished in about two weeks, after which I’ll resume long-form educational chess videos.

In the meantime, I’ll be posting shorts. These are experimental and entertainment-focused, rather than structured educational content.

They also help some viewers discover the long-form content, but they are kept intentionally separate so they don’t change the direction of the channel.

If you’re here for the educational material, that hasn’t changed - the long-form videos remain the core of the channel going forward.

One of the worst feelings you’ll get as a diligent chess amateur:

>follow opening principles
>watch your opponent ignore all of them
>lose anyway

Feels like you deserved to win.

You didn’t.

Following principles and punishing people who break them are completely different skills. Most players only learn the first.

And no, the fix isn’t grinding more opening theory,

because your opponents can come up with bad moves faster than you can memorise engine punishments.

You need actual understanding.

That’s what this playlist is about: Beyond Opening Theory - concise, practical lessons on how to transition to winning middlegames.
