Hi, I might be repurposing this channel soon for public facing game development videos. That was sorta the original intent, but of course... that kinda tapered off. To be honest with you all, I was not well when I decided I wanted to shutter this channel and was more or less frustrated at my lack of motivation for anything at the time and my general outlook on life. Most of the "Goodbye" video was driven by swelling feelings from over the years that do not apply anymore. I've gotten better now; rid myself of vices and getting myself together
I'm still "Jefftastic," I don't mind people referring to me as such. I've also started posting again on JeffyJamzHD, the sister channel, which you should tooootally check out. No pressure. Regarding this channel -- while I want to keep my current projects a bit of a secret, theres a lot of resources I'd like to provide (tutorials, source code, the works) as my way of paying things forward to those who've followed me for my game development. Regardless of what you're here from/for, I appreciate everyone who has stopped by for any of my work
About "Newman Network," unfortunately that project has been on the burner for a long time now. I set the bar too high and going forward with the project would have taken a lot of time and energy out of me. December 2023 was an exhausting sprint to make the demo happen for new years 2024. I don't have the money to feasibly expand the team beyond myself and a few friends who wanted to help tie some loose ends I couldn't personally cover. To blamerobots, deathlobotomy, superdave, Mozark... thanks for sticking by me and offering your help, and thanks to everyone else associated with Future Primitive for their general input/testing
Will Newman ever return? Yea probably, certainly not in it's existing form but in one way or another. I am trying new things before that happens though. My current project is far removed from anything I've made before, and a lot darker than the kind of stuff I usually make. I am taking a different approach with this one... Maybe you will see it one day! Take care everyone, and hopefully I'll see you all on here again sometime soon
Hey everyone! A lot has been going on this past month! If you didn't know, I've had a second channel for a while now (usually to upload small things related to Newman and other projects) but somewhat recently it had blown up in my face. It's no bigger than this channel, but with it's success it will likely eclipse this channel fairly soon. Not a bad thing by any means.
I've been pretty stuck on what I want to do with this channel, I've gone through many different phases on this channel and I feel like I have a lot of "dead weight" tied to this account, which hinders my potential for growth. People have come to this channel for different things, and the majority of those I've grown out of. I care to preserve my past projects, and many friendships were made through my work; beyond this I do not care about the communities my videos/games appealed to, and it doesn't represent me today
Unfortunately, I've also felt pretty stuck regarding how I want to push forward with Newman's development -- not that the codebase is bad, or that I don't have ideas, but rather the legal aspects that come into play with a commercial project. I had anticipated this and that's partly why I never asked for financial support from anybody. I do not owe anyone anything, and I never want to back myself into that corner. The only thing I've been given from you guys is your time (which, hey, I do appreciate)
I've considered the nuclear option of throwing in the towel on this account and continuing work under a different name (or just through the Future Primitive group) but I'd like to give things another shot on here. Would you guys be OK with me releasing smaller, solo projects in the meantime? I know that is not something a lot of you are here for, but I feel like that's all I can offer with confidence. Newman will continue to be a massive undertaking since most of the work falls upon me. Most developers would have crumbled under the standard and work enforced with that project. It is a long term thing, and I'd rather do small things in the meantime as I'm still stumbling through my early adulthood. I just want to gauge how much of my current audience would be interested in this shift
Hey everyone! I wanted to let you all know that I reopened my old community server. It's faced a pretty big rebrand into a more generalized space for the creative types that follow this channel. We've got dedicated tech and music channels, along with plans to host game servers and game jams! Right now we're doing an anarchy modded Minecraft server using my own modpack that I designed. It's pretty brutal, but pretty fun and active! I'd love to have you here! discord.gg/QyxBntF5
Newman will be making a return soon as well, but for a while now I've been uploading updates on my various endeavors over on @jefftwostic. It's nothing crazy, theres sprinkles of Newman updates along with my other experiments!
Hey everyone! I have a few things I want to talk about real quick, and I figured that its probably best to share it here as a community post so you guys can be caught up to speed.
I had announced a few weeks ago in the Godot server that Newman has been put on hold, but didn’t elaborate too much. I have plans for the project and a desire to work on it, but right now I want to focus on building a career outside of game programming. I’d love to be able to profit from my work, but that light at the end of the tunnel is too far away for that to be viable currently.
I plan on becoming a backend developer, if not full stack, because I enjoy writing code in low level languages and have always been interested in working with databases and algorithms. Thats what I plan on dedicating myself to for the foreseeable future, and until I can secure a stable income, there may be minimal if no updates on Newman. I will return to the project along with potentially making some new videos after I find the stability I’m looking for.
My work, and the work of many others at Future Primitive, will not go to waste. For now though, I need to focus on progressing in life and finding my independence. Thank you!
Hi everyone. I've created a second channel where I will be uploading more consistently as most of what I wish to post does not currently fit the schema of this channel. If you enjoy my technical talks and insight regarding Newman and other topics I've previously shown to be passionate about, consider checking this out.
Whats happening forum. I was taking a break for some time, but have recently gotten back into working on Newman. As development shifts from an alpha state to a beta state, I will be keeping a lot of development out of the public eye. A lot of what has been shown on this page has been about my programming work on Newman. Now that the foundational elements of the game have been set in place, my focus will be set on (mostly) content for the game. None of what I have in mind for the coming months will really be interesting (the usual shtick of planning and the process of "grey-boxing" those plans), but regardless these coming months will be crucial for shaping up the game.
With all of that yapping out of the way, I'd like to do a major video for Newman discussing it's initial development up until the recent demo. I'd like to gauge interest, so let me know if that sounds appealing. I have a lot of passion for this project and for the team (Future Primitive Digital) who have helped this be the best it can be.
Thank you everyone for playing the Newman Network: Channel 64 demo. I will be releasing hotfixes in the following days to fix some problems people are having. There will be a final QoL patch with updated movement options, camera controls, and input rebinding from upstream development.

So, after the recent demo release of Newman Network, what did we think?
