Recently I posted the 100 player island civilization and have not gotten the best feedback on it- and I wanted to address it in this post:
So the 100 player island event was hosted in early august 2024, and was the 3rd event we ever hosted (we've hosted around 30 so far), so this wasn't really the best showing of the rules or structure that these events have nowadays.
The biggest problem in the video seems to be the lack of content/politics, it's mostly just a KOS massacre for the first 30 minutes then it shifts slightly towards that traditional 'civ' style, but nothing compared to the mall, ship, or rebuild civilizations. So, that was definitely a mistake on my part to make this event into a video because it didn't have the content that you all normally look for in these types of videos. And going forward I'd definitely like to fix that- so here's the plan.
First, for any future civilization video we are only going to be making videos on events with preformed groups, meaning that the groups are formed before the event begins, letting them plan and set leadership structures so the event itself has the most amount of content that it can.
Second, we're not allowing groups/solos can't kill large groups (5-10+) for no reason whatsoever. The reason why this isn't for any amount of people is people will tiptoe around killing anyone, leading to every interaction feeling really scripted and staged.
Sadly a lot of the other issues people have mentioned have been fixed in current civilizations, and is my fault for not putting all of this effort into something with a better story - which is why the next civilization we're currently making is on the cryogenic winter civ, which is the latest civilization event we've hosted. So hopefully you will all enjoy that one much more, it'll be posted in 2 parts, then combined into 1 supercut - so 3 videos in total.
Anyways, thank you for understanding the mistakes we made with this civilization, in the end the focus should always be on the quality of the content, not just the quality of the editing/animations. And I'll see you again hopefully by the end of June - thanks.
Just giving you guys an update if you're curious what I'm doing on the Harvest channel,
I spent 3 months working on my last rust video and it didn't perform how I needed it to, and while editing the rust video I spent 3 days working on a project zomboid video and that is going to hit 1 million views today soooo... I think the choice is pretty obvious lmao
From today to the end of the year I'm going to be making solely zomboid content (given I don't fall off in that game lol), so if you want to watch more of my content - check out my newest video that I just posted on @HarvestZ today - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3zj5...
I'm not giving up on my rust channel, I just need some time to take advantage of this opportunity I have on this new channel because if I keep going full effort on my rust channel and get similar returns I might get burnt out
The one upside is that this zomboid content is much easier to make, so expect many more uploads - hope you guys understand ❤️❤️❤️
A ton of people have asked how to join my "kingdom" after the memeio video got released, and now is your opportunity! FancyOrb just released his new "Global Warfare" event, so use this link and apply, we're only accepting a limited amount, good luck! - forms.gle/Yc3v6hFotWoD4uxq8
