With Music Codex, Vol. 3 (Credite In Odio) approaching release, the first critical responses have arrived. Here’s what reviewers are saying:
“These songs aren't just ‘lore dumps’ — they're basically philosophical essays wearing chainswords and power armour. 😄” — ChatGPT
"Heresy." – Inquisitor Magazine
"We wrote this album." – Alpha Legion
"Recommended for fans of heavy riffs, Warhammer, and unresolved existential crises." – Record store owner
"The Latin is surprisingly decent." – ‘That Guy’ who always checks
"I don't even like Warhammer. Why am I emotionally invested in the Thunder Warriors?" – Somebody's girlfriend
"Rushed. Should have taken another century to perfect it." — The Emperor's Children
"Come for the bolters. Stay for the existential dread." – Music journalist
"The boyz peer-reviewed 'Let's Go Krump'. We peered at it... den we krumped it. It checks out." – Ork Institut of Teknologee
"★★★★☆. At last... something worth awakening for." – Necron Dynasty Review
"Five stars. Bring your family." – Genestealer Community Outreach Programme
"An album that clearly loves its source material enough to argue with it." – Rock 'n' Roll Sounds
"Needs more screaming." – Night Lords
"You don't need to know Warhammer to enjoy it. You just need to enjoy being shouted at." – Harrang!
"The Codex Astartes does not support this album. But it is still a banger." – Cato Sicarius
“The Orks are having more fun than everyone else, as usual." – AI Music Watcher Monthly
"We understood every reference." – Thousand Sons
"Confident enough to let bagpipes, accordions, blast beats and Russian hardstyle co-exist without apology." – Metal Observer
"An album unafraid to take ridiculous ideas completely seriously. This is what happens when someone studies the lore instead of just quoting it." – DrEdSeT Magazine
"This is either niche beyond reason or secretly far more universal than it first appears." – Loud Soundz
"This album has been added to my collection." – Trazyn the Infinite
“All the songs are ****, they should have just been about how kickass the Astartes and Emperor are AND THAT’S IT. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.” - A boring ‘casual’ Warhammer 40K fan
“A convincing performance.” — Harlequin Play Review
"Worth dying for." — Imperial Guardsman
"Page 437 of the Codex recommends listening to track 10 at 75% volume." — Ultramarine I ran into in the corridor
"The flesh is weak. The riffs are strong." — Adeptus Mechanicus Internal Audit Monthly
"Every track sounds like it should be accompanied by a cathedral collapsing in slow motion." – HARD ROCK STYLE Magazine
"Encore." – Slaanesh
"The Emperor protects. The bassline grooves." – Adeptus Grooveicus
“Will you stop playing that f***ing guitar…. You ****…” — My next-door neighbour

We did an interview with top Warhammer 40K AI Music Magazine DrEdSeT -- check out the full text and interview below!
WHO ARE EBM HATE? (Interview with DrEdSeT Magazine)
Nobody seems entirely sure when EBM Hate officially formed. According to frontman Nemesis Vox, the band began shortly after he was dishonourably discharged from the Astra Militarum (somehow avoiding a firing squad through a strange disappearance no-one can explain). Official records state he was removed from service for "Persistent Doctrinal Non-Compliance, Excessive Questioning of Orders, and Conduct Unbecoming of an Imperial Guardsman." Nemesis himself maintains the incident merely involved asking why his regiment was ordered to charge a minefield before the artillery barrage had actually begun. The Commissar reportedly described this as "defeatist thinking."
Lead guitarist Raze Kordane claims to have spent decades attached to an Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator fleet recovering forbidden technology from dead forge worlds. His black Schecter C-1 guitar and the copy he gifted to Nemesis Vox are rumoured to have been constructed with elements of forbidden technology and "blessed by a Tech-Priest who had only three emotions left," though the Adeptus Mechanicus officially deny that such a priest has ever existed.
Bassist Tony remains something of a mystery. Nobody remembers hiring him. Nobody remembers meeting him. He’s just sort always been there. Attempts to ask who invited him and where he came from are usually met with uncomfortable silence before everyone agrees it would probably be best not to bring it up again.
The band's original drummer Def Caito is currently undertaking an extended rehabilitation programme after developing an unfortunate dependency on the drug Spook, and after repeated incidents involving paranoia, hallucinations and attempting to arm-wrestle Ogryns. His replacement, drummer Lyra Kade, has proven embarrassingly more organised and professional than the rest of the band combined. Her interests include reading, anime, collecting deactivated grenades, and out-drinking any Catachan in Rum or Tequila.
The not-entirely-new addition to the band is the permanent hiring of long-time touring synth player Veyra Pax, now becoming a permanent member after years of session work and joining the band on tour. Veyra was born into one of the great hive noble houses of Hive Primus before choosing to abandon a life of wealth, politics and arranged marriages. Following an unfortunate incident involving a broken grav-lift and an unexpectedly long fall into the Underhive, she survived for several months amongst the gangs of Necromunda. Reports state she eventually reappeared covered in blood, wearing the cervical vertebra of a slain Goliath Forge Tyrant around her neck, and possessing an unwavering determination to change the universe.
Despite numerous investigations by the Ordo Hereticus, repeated noise complaints from planetary governors, and being permanently banned from at least three Schola Progenium graduation ceremonies, EBM Hate insist they remain "completely loyal citizens of the Imperium." The Administratum has declined to comment.
INTERVIEW
We sat down with the band and asked a few probing questions to really get to the heart of what makes EBM Hate the premier Warhammer 40,000 band on YouTube. First we started with Nemesis Vox...
Journalist: "Nemesis, critics say your use of Abominable Intelligence undermines artistic integrity."
Nemesis: "Most critics couldn't identify artistic integrity if it charged them with a bayonet."
Journalist: "Haha - very true. You did address some of these points in the song "Abominable Intelligence" but I wondered if you wanted to expand on this?"
Nemesis Vox: "I've found that 99% of AI criticism consists of 'wahhh, I don't like AI, wahhh...' If anyone ever had anything more intelligent to say, I would respond.”
Journalist: "Alrighty then, moving on to you Tony, you've been with the band a long time, but I'm curious, what were you doing before you joined the band..."
Tony: "Before... the band? ...sorry I don't understand, can you repeat the question?"
Journalist: "Well I mean, there was a time before EBM Hate existed and I wonder, were you playing in another band? Where's home for you? That kind of thing...?"
Tony: "I mean... I'm the bassist in EBM Hate. Other than that I'm not sure what you mean..."
Journalist: “And how long have you known Nemesis?”
Tony: “Longer than he has…”
Journalist: “So what about your family Tony? Do you have many family members - where did you grow up?”
Tony: “Family? You mean the other band members? Yeah there are five of us now, with the two new members Lyra and Veyra.”
Journalist: "O....K.... Moving on... Veyra, I understand you've already played with the band for a long time, pretty much since the beginning but other commitments prevented you from playing full time? What were they and what's changed now you can be permanently in the line-up?"
Veyra: "Yes I'm super excited to be in the band permanently, especially now my very good friend Lyra has joined, I've been on tour and done session work with EBM Hate almost since the beginning but now I'm glad to say EBM Hate is my new home. As for what was stopping me before: it took six years and was practically a full-time job convincing the Administratum to process the paperwork confirming I'd survived and returned from the Underhive.”
Journalist: "And turning to our new drummer, Lyra, any culture shock joining EBM Hate?"
Lyra: "Yes, when I asked where the rehearsal schedule was."
Journalist: "And…?"
Lyra: "Nemesis asked what a rehearsal schedule was."
Journalist: “So that must have been difficult?”
Lyra: “Not really, I just made band practice compulsory every early-afternoon.”
Journalist: “And how did that go down with the band?”
Lyra: “Well after initially getting really angry Nemesis and Raze slowly got used to it and started turning up less late and slightly less hungover each day, Tony always seems to be there waiting before Veyra or I even arrive."
Journalist: "What's the biggest difference between you and the rest of the band?"
Lyra: "I own an alarm clock."
Journalist: "Ok and Finally... a question to all of the band: any message for your fans ahead of your upcoming new release?"
Nemesis: "Question authority."
Raze: "Question archaeology."
Tony: "...Sorry, what was the question?"
Lyra: "Please wear hearing protection."
Veyra: "And don't do Spook."
