Hi there!!

I'm Moosey (Moos for short, or Max if you wanna get really parasocial), and I'm a video-game composer and designer! (He/They)

Whereas my artist channel @MooseyVGM is a little more focused on my portfolio of work, this channel is where I can put my voice and my passion/interests front-and-centre. That might mean playing games, talking about games, writing super elaborate video-essays- whatever it is I feel like doing!

I hope you find something here that you like! Please consider sticking around if you do. 💜

If you'd like to contact me, you're free to do so via my email (max@rathbone.org.uk) or ping me on Twitter (@MooseyVGM).

Held off on making a proper post about this until the run was verified, but now that it has been, I'm very happy to say that I recently managed a WORLD RECORD TIME in Shadow Generations!!

My speed-running arc over the last few months is absolutely one that I stumbled into with no real intention of achieving anything crazy, so the fact that I managed to set a world record is wild to me.

At some point in the near future, I'm thinking of putting together a video guide breaking down the run in as much detail as possible for anyone curious or who want to try running it themselves. I also want to try running some other levels besides this one, so we'll see how that goes!!

If you'd like to watch the full run, I've linked it here! Thanks all 💜

For those of you keeping up to date with news about Rain World: The Watcher, you may be aware that we received a brand new trailer yesterday during the Six One Indie showcase.

Alongside the first gameplay footage of the DLC, we were given a release date- March 28th 2025!

I had considered making a follow-up video to my first analysis of the teaser trailer, but I've decided that it would instead be better to direct you guys towards some other creators who have already done a fantastic job covering the new information.

‪@Balagaga‬ recently dropped an exhaustive analysis of the trailer which goes into a lot of detail, so if you were hoping to see something like that from me, I'd suggest going and watching his video instead! 💜

That's all I have to say for now!! I'll catch you guys in the next video (hopefully soon!!!)

Two thousand of y'all?? Crazy.

Hey all!!

In case you missed it, I spent the last week or so playing through Elden Ring's DLC Expansion 'Shadow of the Erdtree' live over on Twitch.

(As a side note, if you'd like to watch the unedited stream VODs, they've now all been uploaded to my VODs channel, ‪@MooseyWasLive‬! Please consider checking them out!)

Twitch: www.twitch.tv/mooseybutlive
SOTE Playlist: www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

With the playthrough concluded, I wanted to gauge interest in the possibility of an edited playthrough series over on this channel.

I'm currently thinking of 6 episodes, each maybe something like 30-60 minutes, cutting down each of the streams into just the best bits. The videos themselves would probably take a fair while to edit and put out, but I'd be willing to commit to it if enough people want to see it!

If that sounds like something of interest, please engage in the poll on this community post to let me know what you think! I'd also really appreciate any comments if you have any more detailed thoughts.

Thank you all, as always, and I'll hopefully see you in some new videos soon. 💜

Hello again!!

SO- you might notice that there are some changes around here. I thought I'd make a community post going into a little more detail about what's new!

--------------------

First of all- I've rebranded the channel quite a bit!

'MooseyButDifferent' has now become 'Moos', and you'll notice I now have a new channel icon, courtesy of the wonderful ‪@Stellamarius‬!

But why the change? Well, I've always been a little iffy with the identity of this channel specifically. 'MooseyButDifferent' is kind of a mouthful, for one, but it's also dependent on the viewer being aware of my original channel, . (Which, like, you should be, but y'know.)

On top of that, the existing branding was kind of just not really representing this channel very well. An inverted version of my official logo looks cool and all, but it's not really conveying what this channel is. Which also begs the question- what IS this channel?

Well, I've been thinking a lot about the differences in my channels and what defines them, and I think recently I've come up with a solid way of identifying and separating them.

So first, ‪@MooseyVGM‬, my original channel- that channel is essentially my artist's account. It's where you'll see all of my major uploads, whether that's new music releases, new projects, or anything like that. But as a consequence of it being more focused on my work, it's less about me, the person behind it.

And that's where this channel, @Moos, comes in! Whereas ‪@MooseyVGM‬ is a little more focused on my portfolio of work, ‪@MooseyCat‬ is a channel where I can put my voice and my passion/interests front-and-centre. That might mean playing games, talking about games, writing super elaborate video-essays- whatever I feel like doing!

And so, because of that difference, I thought it would make sense to brand this channel slightly differently as well. So whilst my artist account uses my official brand logo, the 'mascot' of this channel is... well, me!

(I want to give a massive thank-you to ‪@Stellamarius‬ for helping realise this silly little design based on my concepts and feedback- she did a phenomenal job! 💜)

--------------------

Next up on the agenda: NEW VIDEO!!!

I just published a ~20-minute video on Rain World and you should go watch it RIGHT NOW!!! (link below)

In this video, ‪@Stellamarius‬ and I decided to team up to tackle a co-op Rain World playthrough together. Whilst I'm very experienced when it comes to Rain World and its many campaigns, Stella is practically the exact opposite, and so I thought this would be a fun way to help her make it through the game and experience it properly!

I also may or may not have added a few silly mods here and there for some spice. (Don't worry, nothing super game-breaking or anything like that. At least not yet, anyway.)

If you want to see two people mess around in the early areas of Rain World for twenty minutes, this video is for you!! It's also a very new style of content for me, so if you enjoy it, please let me know!! I'm super down to do more content like this if people wanna see it (we already have the second episode recorded- we did two sessions way back in December lmao.)

But yeah, please please go watch it and go check out ‪@Stellamarius‬ if you haven't yet! She worked on all of the illustrations you see in the video and thumbnail, so this video would not have been possible without her.

GO WATCH!!! https://youtu.be/ZgboCdko7sk

--------------------

As a small aside, for those of you that aren't aware, I also stream on Twitch at 12:00 GMT every weekend or so!

My Twitch: www.twitch.tv/mooseybutlive

I've been playing all sorts of games, mainly focusing on indie stuff (as indie games tend to be some of my favourites.) If you're interested in seeing me play games like in today's video, but as livestreamed content rather than a highly-edited format, this is absolutely the content for you!

If you can't make the streams though, I also have a dedicated VODs channel where I upload all of the streams shortly afterwards!

VODs channel: ‪@MooseyWasLive‬

This week, we played through 'Pseudoregalia', which is an extremely cool indie game that blends together an incredibly satisfying 3D platformer moveset with the structure and exploration of a Metroidvania. The VOD is already up now, so be sure to check it out if you're interested!!

--------------------

(Some closing thoughts and a look at 2024)

I just want to end this little post by once again giving a MASSIVE thank-you to everyone who's stuck around on this channel. I know I'm far from the most active when it comes to ANY of my channels, let alone this one, so I really appreciate those of you who care to check out my stuff when I do upload.

I'm hoping to do a lot more with this channel over the rest of the year- I've had a bunch of ideas for a long while on the sort of content I'd like to put on here, and I'm hoping 2024 will be the year that I really start pushing to get those out.

I won't make any promises, of course- I know what I'm like- but if you do want to see more from me, the best thing you can do to support me is just keep engaging with my videos and sharing them around. The absolute best way to justify me dedicating more time towards these videos is having the demand and audience for them, so yeah!!

I'd also really love to hear from you guys if there's any particular content you'd like to see me cover, any games you want to see me talk about, or just anything like that! Feel free to leave a comment here or on any of my videos and share your thoughts.

--------------------

That's just about everything I wanted to share for now!! Go enjoy the video, go check out ‪@Stellamarius‬, and hopefully I'll see you around! (Sooner rather than later, let's hope...)

Thanks, all! 💜

Hello everyone!!

So I've tried a few times on this channel to publish edited content of me playing games, but it's never really felt quite like what I wanted it to be.

If you weren't aware, I also have a Twitch channel, MooseyButLive, where I occasionally stream games! It's not something I do super often- particularly nowadays when I don't have a lot of opportunities to- but it's always been something I've been passionate about and something I'd like to do more.

--(Check it out here! www.twitch.tv/mooseybutlive)--

With college being almost over for me, I'm thinking of starting up streaming again soon. I've got a backlog of games on Steam that I want to play through, and I figure it'd be a lot of fun to stream my playthroughs live!

With that in mind, however, I'd like to gauge interest in a few types of content regarding these streams. Ideally, I'd like for there to be some way for people to watch the content after the streams have ended, but I'm not sure what people would find the most interesting.

--SO!--

I'd like to present you guys with a few options and hopefully get a better idea of what sort of format would be the most enjoyable!

-------------

(1) VOD Re-uploads on ‪@MooseyCat‬

- This one is fairly self-explanatory. The VODs of any and all streams that I do would be uploaded onto YouTube, probably completely unedited, for people to watch.

(2) VOD Re-uploads on separate channel

- Same as the last option, only I would have a separate channel dedicated for livestream/gaming content. This would prevent the livestream content from cluttering any of the edited/video-essay type content that I put out on this channel.

(3) Edited videos on ‪@MooseyCat‬

- This would essentially be taking the VODs of each stream I do and editing them down into shorter, more dense content (maybe 20-30 minute videos.) These would obviously take longer to produce as I'd have to edit them all, but would potentially be higher quality than just the raw VOD uploads.

(4) Edited videos on separate channel

- You get the idea. Same concept, just on a separate channel.

(5) Both VODS and edited-down videos

- This would mean publishing both the raw VODs of each stream, and then also producing the edited videos to release at a later date. (If you're familiar with ‪@SnapCube‬, it would be something similar to how Penny approaches her streams.)
- This would likely be either both on a separate channel, or maybe with the edited videos on ‪@MooseyCat‬ and then the raw VODs on a separate channel- I'm not quite sure yet.

-------------

I would really love to hear what you guys think!

If there aren't any options that quite cover what you would personally like to see, please comment what would be your ideal way for these streams to be archived! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

That's all for now, though! Thank you for taking the time to read through this, and I hope to see you all at some point soon! 💜

Hello hello!

In case you missed it, I recently put up a new video going into the new #TearsoftheKingdom trailer and theorising about the potential of a certain settlement in the sky potentially making a return.

Please consider checking it out! 💜

Hey all!

Just wanted to clarify this to avoid any confusion- I recently updated the channel icons for both my main and second channels! The one with the purple icon is for this channel :)

Whilst I'm here, let me just say thank you so much again for the recent support on this channel especially. My 'One-Winged Champion' demo is almost at 100K views, which is just mind-blowing. I'm so excited to get back to it soon and have a full version ready for all of you!

In the meantime, please subscribe both here and over on my main channel! It's been a goal of mine to hit 1000 subscribers on my main channel before the end of the year- a feat that I thought was unrealistic until recently. It would be absolutely incredible if we could make that happen!

And who knows? Maybe we could hit that goal over here too!!

Anyhow, that's all! Thank you all so much, and I'll hopefully see you soon!!

Hello!

So there’s been a bit of a surge in popularity of my videos recently for some reason (presumably the algorithm being the algorithm.)

I just wanted to briefly say- hello to all of the new subscribers, and I’m so happy to see people showing interest in my stuff!

If you’re interested in what I do, please subscribe and share my work around! It’s also really helpful for me to gauge what people find more or less engaging.

As a final note- if you weren’t aware already, this is not my main channel! My main channel, ‪@MooseyVGM‬, is where you can find the bulk of my work, so please go subscribe over there if you’re interested!

Once again, thank you all so much! 💜
