Whether you’re weeks or months away from meeting your baby, you’ve probably been hearing a lot of advice about what to expect during labor. But today, I want to share the one tip I always come back to—something simple, powerful, and easy to remember when things get intense.

🎥 Watch the video here (https://youtu.be/gPneQyXSiBw) – it’s short, practical, and straight to the point.

In just a few minutes, I’ll walk you through my absolute favorite labor strategy—the one I teach in every class and always see help people stay grounded, calm, and connected during birth.

This tip works whether you’re planning a home birth, hospital birth, unmedicated, medicated… whatever your path looks like. I made this video with you in mind—because feeling more confident and prepared is something every birthing person deserves.

Let me know what you think - I love hearing from you. 💛

You’ve got this.

Labor can be sooooooo long and exhausting. Sometimes good support looks like this, holding hands and resting in between contractions. (want more tips for Dads? Don't miss this new video https://youtu.be/asxKTBCs1vk)

It is TOUGH going past your due date. I realized this one first hand with the birth of my 3rd child. Even though I was a doula and helped many clients manage the emotions of going past their due date, I was still struggling when I went past mine.

I don’t really have any great words of wisdom about how to handle the emotions of going past a due date, but as my son has just had his 18th birthday I realize now that being a parent comes with a lot of challenging emotions. Going past the due date is just one. Each challenge that we conquer in parenting makes us a bit stronger so that we can better handle the next challenge.

Here’s a photo of us yesterday skiing together. He was definitely worth the wait.

Here's another photo from 18 years ago when I was pregnant with baby #3. This is right about the time when labor started picking up. I had just returned from a slow walk around the neighborhood with my husband and was having a contraction in one of my favorite positions....the forward lean.

Back then there weren't smart phones with contraction timers. We were tracking contractions on that yellow piece of paper in front of me. Also found in the photo are the snacks that I requested from my mom. Dunkin Donuts! I had a craving for those in early labor. LOL.

I'm pretty sure a donut was the last thing I ate before I gave birth and the first thing I ate after I gave birth. 🍩🍩🍩Good memories! Thanks for letting me share, ❤️Alice
