I rank albums across different genres, artists, and time periods, taking a look at which songs are worst and best. Here is the algorithm I use to rank albums:

Every song gets placed into a tier: Perfect (5 points), Great (3.5 points), Good (2.2 points), Mid (1 point), Bad (0 points). I multiply the amount of songs in each tier by the tier value. With this summed value of all songs, I then divide this tally by the total number of possible points the album could've gotten if all songs were perfect (5 * # of songs). This creates a more standardized score that doesn't penalize short vs. long albums. With this value, I apply a few simple bonuses and penalties to alter the score:

✅ +2.5 if no songs are Bad

✅ +2.5 if over 70% of songs are Good or better

❌ –2.5 if over 50% of songs are Mid or below

❌ –2.5 if the album has no Perfect songs

This gives me a final percentage, which I can then use to compare with other albums to see which are ranked highest vs. lowest.
