Lawmakers - from both ruling-party Likud and more far-Right parties -' responded furiously that they did in fact want to see Gazan children starved and tortured, as did 'community leaders' who were attending the Knesset meeting.
This is clearly a society that has normalized genocidal sentiment including against children. Normalization - not positive endorsement - of genocide is all that it takes for a society to engage in it. In terms of public opinion, Israel right now is what numerous societies engaged in genocide have looked like.
