I'm Katie, a veterans wife, mom to 5, and birth Doula. Grew up on the east coast, but now living my dream life in the PNW. I love delicious food, adventure, and pushing my body… so much so that I’ve wrecked myself having so much fun! From motocross to motherhood and everything in between- this is my life vlog. 2025 is all about new beginnings! After 2 decades of chronic back pain, I had spine surgery in August, so life looks different right now while I prioritize healing! I’m off my feet- Send help or a meal😅

Hi friends!! It’s supposed to snow later today so we are busy winter prepping. I also did something to my back yesterday, so I’m giving orders from the sofa, and not moving much today😅 Also, it’s my BIRTHDAY!! Whoop whoop! Always bitter sweet for me because I miss my momma. It’s been nearly 22 years since she passed. Birthdays are always a reminder that she’s gone. It’s difficult to approach the anniversary of her passing in 3 months, my birthday through the holidays are the toughest months of the year with her absent. Forced to be a matriarch before my time. Aaron’s mother has been gone nearly 4 years as well- our mothers share the same Memorial Day. Here’s to a day spent in mom’s memory- it’s not quite a “birthday” without her. Just hadn’t been the same.

Join me for another week in the trenches of motherhood recovering from spine surgery and raising 5 kids! I’m getting stronger everyday but somedays can be real exhausting. My back gets tired easily these days. I’m healing well, and the excruciating pain is gone! For that I am so grateful and thankful. I’m returning to my normal level of activity- cooking is coming along. I’m sharing some easy meals, and motherhood in action in this weeks video.

What a heavy week it has been. My heart aches. I keep catching my breath, holding back tears, and thinking about those who don’t get to hug their loved ones tonight. Earth shattering loss.
Rest in peace Harper Moyski, Fletcher Merkel, and Charlie Kirk.
Here’s a little life update from our corner of the country, with a focus on food. There is no mission without nutrition. We have been busy tackling homeschool. Lots of online classes and books to navigate with the older students. Technology is not my forte. It’s been all consuming to get through the first two weeks of lessons, survival, and healing. We are doing it! Day by day, little by little. We keep rising!
I’ve had a set back with my spine surgery recovery. A little frustrating but alas, here we are. I have to adapt and overcome.
