BEYOND COLLARS, CASSOCKS, METAL CHAINS AND CROSS PENDANTS II

Jesus says,
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up HIS [personal] cross daily, and follow Me.( Luke 9:23, NKJV, emphasis added)

This personal cross is called the idiosyncratic cross because it is particular to a person’s experience. Bread, cake, croissant, pasta, macaroni and couscous are all food products made from wheat. They all administer starch to the body when consumed but do not taste the same. That’s how the cross of Christ is. We do not experience it the same way but our different experiences eventually produce the same result – Christ’s enlargement in us.

The Lord’s burden predisposes a person to serving the Lord by serving people. Ministry is simply serving people with God-given resources. In order to serve people one must love them with the unconditional love of God. Jesus so loved the people that He ministered to or served that even while they hurt him in His most lonely hour of pain, he blessed them. He loved the people to the death. Ministry therefore must first be love-driven. Paul says,

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. (1 Cor 13:1-3, NKJV)

IT’S SWEET SIXTEEN

The years are not just piling on us —our union under God is actually being sweetened — very self-evidently.

What a ride it has been with the love of my life: Even The Omoge! The only human being under heaven with whom I can unpack to my barest minimum and still remain gallant!

I still wake up every morning in awe of the Lord’s favour packaged in this one vessel.

My soul is still explosively being illumined by the companionship you provide. You still play your role in my life with uncommon ease. You still complete me in ways that are impossible for any mortal to dare try — freeing me to fully obey the heavenly vision.

I am still thankful for all the incredible moments, progress and fulfilment. This matrimonial marathon is seasoned with the Lord’s pleasures. The days ahead are more than the days behind us. But sixteen is not just a number, it is sweetness.

So, yes, cliches aside, you, The Omoge are my sweet sixteen!

The whispers of negativity are quelled by the thunders from on high —filled with the word incorruptible and noncollapsible. Grace and mercy power us.

And, yes, I am still insatiably in love with you, The Omoge.

Cheers to many more years in massive uptake and release of grace together.
