So I just got my first ever copyright strike... not here, but on my VODS channel. The strike was for a 3ish minute segment of a reaction I did on Twitch.
This resulted in me being required to watch a VERY condescending video called "Copyright School" and answer 4 common-sense questions about copyright law. I now have 1/3 strikes on that channel. If I get 2 more strikes, YouTube could NOT ONLY take down that channel, but ALL OTHER ASSOCIATED CHANNELS.
All of this because I created content that is not only ENCOURAGED on YouTube, but is also seen LITERALLY EVERYWHERE by MILLION+ SUBSCRIBER CHANNELS!
TODAY @ 10 AM PST, I will start a WEEK-LONG EVENT!
I will be live 24/7 for the ENTIRE WEEK, living my entire life on camera... except probably things like going to the bathroom. None of you want to see that.
If you were one of the people excited for a potential sleep-stream, well... your wish is coming true.
So my VODS channel has SOMEHOW already reached almost 5,000 public watch hours (one of the requirements for monetization), and now just has to reach 1,000 subscribers to seal the deal! If you haven't already, please go subscribe even if you don't plan to watch any of the videos!
Public watch hours was BY FAR the metric I struggled the MOST with while trying to get this channel monetized, so seeing a new channel of mine reach the 4,000 hour milestone so quickly is incredible to me. I have some big plans coming up and I'd hate for you all to miss it simply because you weren't subscribed!

If my MatPat final theory reaction doesn't perform well on the shorts channel, I might just upload it here instead. The shorts channel algorithm is kind of skewed towards viewers who can't watch more than 30 seconds at a time, so I wouldn't be surprised if my 25 minute reaction doesn't do too well over there...
That being said, after seeing some VERY promising analytics on my new VODS channel, it seems my theory of "starting a new channel with my current experience on YouTube to make me ACTUALLY go viral" has more potential than we all initially thought.
This would result in me creating a new channel for my game development videos in the near future and turning this channel into "Vano Part 2" in a sense. This channel would end up containing more content along the lines of my reactions, gaming, and edited stream moments... basically all of the things I do OUTSIDE of game development.
I'll make this a poll to see what you all think. This channel clearly isn't gaining organic viewership (and never really has), so should I just post whatever I want here and try to "start over" with a different channel? Remember, the goal isn't to "move" all my viewers from this channel over to the new channel. The goal is to organically reach NEW viewers since this channel is, for a lack of better terms, shadow-banned.
And before you ask... yes, I would set a very specific upload schedule for that new channel to ensure I check all my boxes.
