If your planning a visit to the Lake District please refresh yourself on the countryside code. There are lots of livestock in fields so please ALWAYS remember to close gates you may go through. We know lots of folk enjoy wild camping and it's great but please please stick to wild camping rules. Wild camping is illegal in England but in the Lake District National Park it is tolerated so long as you are above the highest fell wall which means you must be above farmland and on common land, you must pitch late and pack up early. You must be able to carry all equipment you need in one backpack. You mustn't pitch your small inconspicuous tent near paths or waterways and you mustn't light campfires. Most importantly you must LEAVE NO TRACE. The Lake District is a magnificent National park and if everyone respects it locals, visitors and wildlife can all keep enjoying it for generations to come #lakedistrictnationalpark #theBinfluencers #TheLakesBinfluencers #settingthetrendforacleanerLakes #Leavenotrace

This year has been the worst ever in the Lakes for fly camping and littering and antisocial behaviour. If you are planning on camping in the lakes in the future please, unless your wild camping above 400m which is tolerated if you carry all equipment in one backpack and set up late, stop one night and pack up early, in an inconspicuous tent away from paths and water sources and in groups of no more than two then please stop on a designated campsite. If you are camping on lake shores and woodland or low fields and near towns and villages you will be reported, fined and possibly even prosecuted. If in the Lakes please NEVER have a campfire and please DO NOT use disposable BBQs as these risk wildfires starting. Also, if you are in a campervan please only stop on designated sites or in official lay-bys. Carparks like lakeside keswick DO NOT allow any overnight sleeping. Most of all, if you visit please LEAVE NO TRACE and please don't use lake shores as a free public toilet. Also, if you plan on fell walking you MUST check the fells weather report that day. Weather is very different at the top of a fell to the bottom. Mountain rescue are all volunteers. They have had unprecedented number of call outs this year. Please let someone know your route your expected time home and please go with correct clothing, footwear, equipment and don't do any routes you don't feel safe doing. Together, we can keep the lakes beautiful and safe for all
