The long-awaited new livery for Great British Railways has been unveiled, and is expected to start appearing on trains from next Spring. The livery is said to be inspired by the colour scheme of the Union Jack, paired with angular forms to "create a sense of motion and direction that reflects a railway moving confidently into the future".
You may recall that a little while ago I made a video about the ongoing fleet refurbishment happening at Southeastern. Well, they've just completed the first interior refresh of one of their 376s, and you can find a really good overview of that in this video which they've published to their channel!
Fuel duty frozen until September 2026 BUT will have the 5p cut reversed after that in a staggered approach. Then from April 2027 it will be uprated annually in line with inflation.
New EV excise duty introduced to offset electric cars not paying fuel duty.
EV car grant extended until 2030.
£200m to go towards EV charging infrastructure.
Reannouncements of Lower Thames Crossing, Midlands Rail Hub, Transpennine Route Upgrade, and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
Edit: And the DLR Extension to Thamesmead, but I've already made a video on that!
Pretty underwhelming on the whole, so nothing to get overly excited about. Let me know if I've missed anything :)
In that video, I discussed how there's been speculation that Eurostar's new double-decker 'Celestia' fleet might not actually be used on the UK routes to begin with, but will instead be deployed on the ex-Thalys routes operating entirely within the EU.
Well I'm pleased to report that those rumours have now been dispelled, as Eurostar has officially confirmed that their London routes WILL be the FIRST to receive the new trains from 2031, and that they'll be rolled out to the ex-Thalys routes at a later date!
A few weeks ago I shared a video from HS2 Ltd about their new trains' proposed interior, but to my surprise I was then able to go and take a look for myself at The Greatest Gathering!
So, if you're interested in seeing what the new trains are like in even MORE detail, as well as hearing my thoughts on them, then check out my new video linked below!
Thank you all so much for 5000 subscribers! It's only been a year (and one day) since my first video and I can't believe how quickly this channel has grown. I want you to know that I appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time out of your days to watch my various ramblings. ❤️
I feel like I probably ought to do something big to celebrate 5K but frankly I've got no idea what, so if you've got any suggestions then feel free to leave them in the comments below, and likewise if you have any suggestions for the future of the channel as a whole then also feel free to let me know. Other than that I wish you all the best, and thank you once again for all the support!
HS2 has just released an excellent new video looking at the proposed interior for the Class 895s that will one day operate on HS2 and further up the WCML.
I haven't promoted it here in a while so today I'm reminding you that I do have a secondary vlogs channel, where I've just released a video that may be of interest to many of my subscribers here, taking a look at the new Coventry Very Light Rail system, which promises to revolutionise the delivery of urban tram systems!
But does it live up to the hype? Check out the video to find out!
