Quick Tip of the Week #33: Why does your video look weirdly sharp or choppy even when focus is perfect? 🎥🤔 It's probably your shutter speed. For cinematic-looking video, use the 180° rule — set your shutter speed to double your frame rate:

🎬 25fps → 1/50s
🎬 30fps → 1/60s
🎬 50fps → 1/100s
🎬 60fps → 1/120s
This creates natural motion blur between frames. Go higher and movement looks stiff. Go lower and it smears. 🎞️

Quick Tip of the Week #32: Shooting outdoors this spring? 🌿 Your camera's auto white balance will constantly shift between shots as clouds move. Lock your white balance manually — even a simple "Daylight" preset keeps your footage consistent across a whole day of shooting. No more color grading headaches in post. 🎨

Quick Tip of the Week #31: Want your subject to instantly pop off the background? 🎬✨
Place a small pocket light behind your subject, aimed back at the camera — this creates a rim light that outlines their silhouette and separates them from the background. A 40W pocket light like the Zhiyun Fiveray M40 SE is powerful enough to do this.💡
I just published a full review of the M40 SE — check it out here 👇

Quick Tip of the Week #30: Stuck filter panic? 😱 If your ND or UV filter is jammed on your lens, DO NOT use force! Using a rubber rod from a follow focus system helps to get a better grip. Watch the technique: https://youtu.be/386xkY7YCWM

Quick Tip of the Week #29: Soft light is "safe," but sometimes hard light is the way to go. Using a spotlight attachment with a gobo's lets you project window patterns or tree shadows onto a background, instantly adding depth to your shots.
