From the intricate sea-inspired carvings of St. Paul’s Church to the patriotic silence of the Khukri Memorial, the grand sea-facing walls of Diu Fort, and the divine energy of Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple, every place shows a different side of Diu. Chandra Dev was cursed by Daksha to lose his divine glow. He came to Prabhas Patan and prayed deeply to Lord Shiva. Pleased by his devotion, Shiva softened the curse and restored his light. In gratitude, Chandra built the temple which came to be known as Somnath.
Around 110 years ago, Jaipur Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II visited Barsana with his queen. After seeing Radha Rani’s temple, he wished to build a grand palace-like temple for Shri Ji.
And so, the beautiful Jaipuriya Temple was built, today known as Shri Kushal Bihari Ji Temple.
It was originally made for Radha Rani’s idol to be placed here. But during the process, a sudden incident made the sevayats believe that Radha Rani did not wish to leave her original temple.
For years, the grand temple remained empty.
Then in 1918, Thakur Shri Kushal Bihari Ji, Hans Gopal Ji, and Laddu Gopal Ji were installed here.
The temple was named after the Maharaja’s queen, Kushla Bai / Kushal Kanwar, becoming Shri Kushal Bihari Temple.
Built on Dangarh Peak of Brahmanchal Hill, this fort-like temple carries Jaipur’s royal touch through Bansi Paharpur stone, Rajputana jharokhas, chhatris, detailed carvings, and paintings of Radha-Krishna leelas.
Adalaj ni Vav (Adalaj Stepwell), Gandhinagar (Gujarat) . . . Adalaj Ni Vav, built in 1499, is one of the Gujarat's most stunning stepwells with five storeys. Also known as Rudabai Stepwell, linked to Queen Rudabai and the Vaghela Dynasty. The hidden fishes are later added as decoration when the well reopened. There are ocassional events that happen in these stepwells. The calmess is soothing to soul.
