Cozy games & lover of cats. I'm Kayla Sims, better known as Simsie! I make daily videos most playing simulation games, but we dabble in other cozy games here too. I also stream every day on Twitch!
Hi everyone! I wanted to take a moment to go over some of my plans for the channel. It is my intention moving forward to continue talking about *free* stuff for The Sims 4, so that includes base game updates, free rewards events, and other similar free content. But, in the future I will not be buying or covering *new paid* content for The Sims 4. That’s why I didn’t make videos about the most recent creator kits, and unfortunately that also means I won’t be making a video about the pack trailer coming out on Thursday.
This is the only time that I’m going to address that new pack because I don’t want to promote it in any way. My hope is that it won’t sell very well, and the lack of sales will send a clear message to EA about how strongly the community feels about the sale of the company. I want them to regret the decision to sell, and this is sort of the only way I know how to help do that. I don’t think it’s likely for the sale to stop at this point, but I’m gonna keep dreaming that it will.
I can’t properly express how heartbreaking this is for me. I deeply, deeply wish that this wasn’t happening because in an ideal world I would love to geek out about a new pack and play with it loads here on YouTube. But right now, I believe that promoting a new expansion (even just by talking about it) would be irresponsible.
I know there will be a lot of people who are disappointed by this decision because you come to me for information on Sims packs, and for that I am sorry. I truly love The Sims and I love doing reviews of packs, and I so badly wish that I could continue right now. I just don’t think it’s right, and for that reason I will not even unintentionally promote this pack for them by playing with it.
I understand that this might seem really hypocritical because I did make a video on the Spongebob packs, but when I made that video I really did not realize that it would come off that way. Truly, my intention with that video was to show off how bad, lazy, and cheap they were to be making something so ridiculous and poorly executed. Those kits were already being promoted so heavily that I figured everyone would already know about them, and I hoped that by covering them critically I could discourage people from buying them. I thought it was such an unbelievable misstep from EA that it needed to be talked about. I didn’t think about it as choosing Spongebob slop over any other pack, but I completely understand why some people see it that way. I had this “I’ll buy it so they don’t have to” mindset, but after I posted the video a lot of people were really frustrated and disappointed in me for doing it, and for buying it or promoting it at all. I absolutely understand that, and I truly apologize that I let you down. I really appreciated everyone having such thoughtful discussions on it in the comments. Your perspectives have really helped me with making decisions on future content. I’m mentioning it again here because I don’t want to come across as hypocritical, or for it to seem like I’m making these decisions lightly.
I really am trying to do the right thing here, and this is just an unprecedented awful situation with no clear “right” path forward. The EA sale has put every Sims creator in a really hard place. Everyone is gonna have different perspectives on what the “right” thing to do is, and I’m sort of taking this day by day and trying to figure out what to do with my channel and my videos in the future.
That’s why I’m making a lot of Animal Crossing and House Flipper content lately in addition to my regular content about pre-existing Sims stuff. I know you’re all here for The Sims, but I am trying to slowly introduce some other games that I also love. I really appreciate all of your support with those new non-Sims videos. I know it’s a huge change for this channel, and it means the world to me that so many of you are enjoying them.
This is actually going to be a really fun week because there’s a huge update for Animal Crossing coming out, and it’s the first update in YEARS. They had previously announced that there would be no future updates for Animal Crossing New Horizons after November 2021, and now all of a sudden they’re doing this. So it’s a really unexpected and really fun surprise. I’ll be making a bunch of videos about it, and I hope that you enjoy them. I have been counting down the days for this update ever since they announced it (and it couldn’t have come at a better time…)
Hopefully this helps to clarify some of my plans for the future. Thank you so, so much for continuing to support me through all of this. We have the most incredible community, and I am eternally grateful for every single one of you. 💜
NANA LEFT MY ISLAND!!!!!!!!! IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!!!!! WE GET TO HUNT FOR DEENA AGAIN!!!!! I was planning on hosting a New Year's Eve party stream, but now we get to villager hunt during it! and I WILL find Deena this time!
I'll be live starting at 4pm ET on Dec 31st, and I'll stream until midnight my time! www.twitch.tv/lilsimsie ✨
Hi everyone! I've never done this before, but I'm going to take a few days off for Christmas this year & post a little bit less this week. I've still got videos ready to post every other day, and I'll be back to "normal" before the new year!
My dad had surgery yesterday, and I want to be able to spend proper time with my family and be around to help out when needed. Everything is all good! He had a hip replacement. He's doing okay and he'll be able to leave the hospital today, but he's obviously in a lot of pain. Should make for an interesting Christmas!
If you're looking for more Simsie videos I have a TON of other content on my second channel (it's literally called@moresimsie), and I've got a few videos scheduled to go up there this week as well. That's where I reupload all my livestreams, so they're really really long videos.
I always feel really guilty missing uploads, and I hate to disappoint people like this. It's been a really weird tough year, and I'm trying to prioritize family time. Thank you so much for understanding, and thank you for letting me have the most wonderful job in the world. I hope you have a fantastic holiday, and I'll see you in a few days! 🎄❤️
This has been in the works for a really, really long time and I am so happy with what we've made! I get asked about merch constantly, and I am so excited to finally have something to share with you! All of this feels very "grandma hobby" coded, and I know a lot of you are also into some of these same things. The quilted tote bag and book sleeve are inspired by some of the things that I love to sew! I've sewn dozens of book sleeves exactly like this as gifts for friends and family, and I love to make tote bags (though I've never made anything quite as nice as this lol). I didn't sew these particular items (I'm not that good or that quick, and it would take me a full day just to make *one* of these bags... maybe longer hahaha), but I sent loads of photos of stuff I've been making and we tried to recreate something similar!
This collection is available for preorder now, and preorders are open until Dec 19th. So it won't sell out, and you have until the 19th to place an order! Then the orders will ship in 8-10 weeks.
- Reading Willow Crewneck - Bookworm Tee - Quilted Book Tote - Quilted Book Sleeve - Kitty Bookmarks
EVERY order comes with a free bookworm sticker, and orders over $100 come with a free kitty bookmark set!
This is a first launch, so we're testing the waters to see how it goes! I have a lot of other ideas I'd love to make in the future, and hopefully we can expand upon it once we get started! I also wanted to point out that these items will *not* arrive in time for Christmas, since it's a preorder and orders won't ship for 8-10 weeks.

Hi everyone! I'm really sorry, but I won't be posting a main channel video today because I am trying to pre-record so that I can take Thanksgiving off! I will have videos up every day for the rest of the week, though!

i need to take a couple days off of posting videos, and i am so so so sorry. one of my family's dogs captain passed away last weekend, and our other dog mako passed away last night. i can't even believe this is happening. i grew up with these dogs, and i can't imagine a world without them.
in all my years of doing youtube i've never really gone more than one day in a row without uploading, but i am really struggling right now. i am usually much more ahead on videos, but with everything going on i don't have a backlog. i am truly so sorry to disappoint you, and i hope that i can be back to recording in the next couple days. i just don't know how to be entertaining while i feel like this. grief is horrible and hard, and my family has experienced so much loss this year. thank you for understanding, and thank you for sending so much love. i'm so sorry.
As I'm sure many of you have seen, it was recently announced that EA is going to be sold to private investors for $55 billion. This news has devastated me. The values represented by the people acquiring EA are fundamentally at odds with what I stand for and support. I've been losing sleep over it for weeks, and I've been deeply struggling with what to do moving forward.
I have so much love for The Sims. This game has completely shaped my entire life, and I care so deeply about The Sims and the community.
I have made the decision to remove myself from the EA Creator Network. It is my hope that pressure from creators and the community might encourage EA’s leadership to reconsider the long-term impact of this sale and to preserve the values that have made The Sims so beloved. This means that I will no longer receive early access to Sims packs, and I will not have a creator code. Under this new ownership I feel I cannot maintain a direct association to the company. I also truly believe that they benefit more from my early access content than I do, and I think that stepping away is the strongest action I can take against the sale.
This situation is a nightmare for our community. Nobody supports this sale, and it is putting creators in a very difficult position. They have built their entire career and livelihood over a game that they have no control over. I ask that you please not harass other Sims creators over their decisions regarding the game and the creator network. I am very fortunate to be in a position where I can make a choice like this, but not everyone has that ability. I don't truly don't believe there is a "right" answer here, and everyone is still trying to figure out their next steps.
I've always streamed lots of other cozy games on my Twitch channel and posted them on @moresimsie, and I plan to start incorporating some other games that I think you might like here on this channel. This isn't the kind of change that can happen overnight, and I will still be posting videos playing The Sims. I've always been a little bit afraid of posting other content on this channel for fear of alienating my audience, but there are a lot of "Sims adjacent" games that I really enjoy and I would love to start introducing them here.
I'm working on a new Animal Crossing series right now, and I think that if you love building in The Sims you'll also really like decorating in Animal Crossing. I am so grateful for your support on the Animal Crossing video I made a couple weeks ago, and I hope you'll like my new ones. I used to post a lot of House Flipper content here a few years ago, and I intend to bring that back. I am also a huge fan of city building games, and I'm really looking forward to the release of Paralives in December. I've been (impatiently) waiting for that one for years!
And for the record, Sims was my name first! My real name is literally Kayla Sims, and "Simsie" is a childhood nickname. It's unfortunate that my username seems so directly tied to the game, but I don't have any plans to change it. It's my name!
I'm really, really distraught over this sale and I know that many of you are as well. It's scary, and it's breaking my heart. I really appreciate your support as I try to navigate this.
EA just announced an agreement to be sold to private investors for $55 billion. This kind of private sale is unprecedented in gaming, and it's a record breaking deal. They will be acquired by PIF (Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia - the country's sovereign wealth fund), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners (Jared Kusher's private investment firm, Jared Kushner is married to Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump). The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year.
This news is extremely scary to me, and it makes me deeply worried about the future of The Sims with EA now being owned by such a conservative group.
The Sims has been a very inclusive game for a long time, and it horrifies me to think of them rolling back any of that progress or somehow censoring the game. Making a change like that would alienate the entire player base of The Sims, and I think it would be an incredibly stupid and shortsighted move from the new investors that would backfire heavily.
This buyout is financed by $20 billion of debt, which they will need to prioritize paying off quickly. For us, that could mean a push toward even more microtransactions, or budget cuts and tighter deadlines on future content and games (like Project Rene). This could also result in some pretty aggressive cost cutting, which might mean layoffs at EA. I also have some big concerns about AI, largely about them possibly trying to start using AI to replace artists on EA games.
I am not exactly an expert on this, but I wanted to talk out some of my concerns and hopefully echo some of what you're feeling. I think the Sims team is probably feeling just as scared as we are right now, and I know that they are going to be advocating for us internally as much as they can. The Sims is a cash cow for EA, but I don't think it's a major reason they're interested in buying the company. We talked about this a little bit yesterday on stream, but I think that their major interest is in the sports titles. Some people even think that they will eventually sell off The Sims to another company, and that's another major concern with companies going private like this. It's possible that they could start restructuring and selling off individual titles. Honestly, it might even be a good thing if they sold off Maxis/The Sims lol... depends to who!
PIF already owns 10% of EA, and this isn't the first time they've made major investments in gaming. They're also major investors in Nintendo, Take-Two, Capcom, Ubisoft, etc. but it's important to note that this is different since it's a private sale and this investment group will own 100% of the company. My hope is that we won't actually see too much change with The Sims specifically, but who knows. I'm obviously going to be keeping a close eye on it. This news feels devastating to me, and I know that a lot of you feel the same way.
I'm not posting a video on YouTube today because I'm finishing up work on my early access content for Adventure Awaits! My full review of the new pack will be out on Friday! 💚
earlier i was distraught because all my legacy photos + paintings disappeared, but after some experimenting it seems like it may actually have been an mod issue.
i have the most updated version of MCCC, but it happened as soon as i reinstalled the mod today & i haven’t been able to replicate it when mods are disabled. i made that other post earlier while i was still live streaming because i was so panicked about it 😭
i was able to revert my save so i have all my pictures back, and i think i should be okay to play again. i’m still a little wary, but this discovery makes me feel better about it so hopefully it’s reassuring to you! sorry for the panic…. i’ve heard about a lot of other people experiencing this over the last few months, and i was really upset about my pictures and scared it would happen to you too 😭
(i have some people with no mods say they've had this issue, but i think that today for *me* it may have been mod related. i don't know. it's weird!!!!)

lilsimsie
earlier i was distraught because all my legacy photos + paintings disappeared, but after some experimenting it seems like it may actually have been an mod issue.
i have the most updated version of MCCC, but it happened as soon as i reinstalled the mod today & i haven’t been able to replicate it when mods are disabled. i made that other post earlier while i was still live streaming because i was so panicked about it 😭
i was able to revert my save so i have all my pictures back, and i think i should be okay to play again. i’m still a little wary, but this discovery makes me feel better about it so hopefully it’s reassuring to you! sorry for the panic…. i’ve heard about a lot of other people experiencing this over the last few months, and i was really upset about my pictures and scared it would happen to you too 😭
(i have some people with no mods say they've had this issue, but i think that today for *me* it may have been mod related. i don't know. it's weird!!!!)
