Technically, there are designated lanes for every travelers that each traveler have to queue at the immigration airport during their pre-departure.

So, Yes. It's possible and you may queue together on the same lane with your foreign companion as long as prior to queuing, you must;
1. Ask the guards/personnel managing the queue line OR 2. Ask the immigration officer directly and politely if you can queue together since you're both traveling and on the same flight.
