Every New Year’s Eve I make my “Lucky No. 7” Black-Eyed Peas from our Christmas ham bone. It’s a tradition I started years ago and one I’ll probably never stop.
Black-eyed peas have long been said to symbolize coins and good fortune, collard greens represent paper money and abundance and ham reminds us to keep moving forward into the new year. A simple pot, but one filled with history, hope and comfort.
I’ve shared my step-by-step recipe video again for anyone who wants to cook along with me or start a new tradition of their own. Simple, soulful and so good.
