We caught the M7 in Venezuela nicely in both SeisComP and GlobalQuake. Did you know that we locally ingest live seismic data from close to 5000 seismographs on our own servers to make these displays? That is why we see earthquakes before USGS, EMSA, or other official agencies post them on their official sites, sometimes we record events that they never post.

The rebuilding of the local Tracy Seismograph display screen is completed. Basically I had to format the drive and start from scratch (Thanks Microsoft Windows 11 broken updates). In the process I have reformatted the layout a bit and rewritten some python programs used. I ditched the anaconda environment and went pure Python and am very pleased with the results and portability of the code now.

I rewrote QuakeSpeak to work better at announcing events from USGS. It still has the same parameters for what events get spoken based on magnitude and distance from Tracy, but It now will also speak for a change in magnitude of an event it already reported so those events where USGS keeps changing the event details it will speak that. I also optimized the code to keep the variables clean and stopped a memory leak. It also uses a windows native sub-process spawn for the TTS instead of the python package I was using which is much cleaner when multiple things need to be spoken.

I rewrote the Shake Meter and it now lived in the bottom right by the clock and shows velocity in um/s and the current MMI Scale level based on the real time movement of the seismograph. There is also a peak meter function where the dashed line stays at the highest point for 3 seconds.

I ditched the RasberryShake rs-client spectrogram display for my new custom written display. It now shows 4 stations simultaneously - Tracy, San Francisco, Chilao Flat (East of L.A. near the San Andreas Fault), and Point Reyes. This will also speak if there is a trigger detected on any of these sensors to grab your attention.

There is now (once again) a ticker on the bottom of the screen with National Weather Service S.A.M.E. notifications for all of California. This includes Tsunami Alerts/Warnings for California and a different "siren" alert sound will sound before that alert is spoken to grab your attention.

Well, I have had a major computer crash on the computer that runs the local Tracy Seismograph stream. I am in the process of trying to rebuild the OS and it may take some time to get that stream back online. It i also affecting the GlobalQuake feed as the server ran on that computer....

M 5.7 near Silver Springs, NV. This is another "interesting" sequence occurring. It is ongoing with 100+ after shocks forming a line on an un-recorded fault line. The blue line I drew is the general line of the aftershock events and the little black line near the epicenter is the mapped un-named fault system closest to the Epicenter of the main event. This appears to be a Left Hand Strike Slip event. The shaking was strong enough to sway a hanging light fixture here at the house about 1 inch.

I have finished coding a new feature that is running/testing on the global stream. This new program monitors the weather.gov API for California S.A.M.E. alerts for weather and Tsunami watch/warning/alert. This filtered and formatted data is running on a ticker at the bottom of the screen and if a new alert comes in it will play an alert sound and speak the new information. There is a different alert sound for Weather and Tsunami alerts. Currently it checks for updates every 3 minutes and I may change that to every 2 minutes after testing. At some point I will mod it on to the screen for the local Tracy seismograph stream as well. Let me know what you think!
