Let me explain how I think King Crimson works. King Crimson has the power to Timeskip/Time erase, and epitaph. So when he predicts the future he can decide either to avoid it and set up and ambush by time erasing or to cause an action by time skipping everyone including himself, there's only one little difference between the two: Time erase is where he is unaffected by everything inside of time erase and can move freely within it, but cannot interact with anything besides stuff connected to him like his blood and clothes (otherwise they'd just fall off during time erasure). And Timeskip is where he can skip to a point where he's already done the action where Diavolo would've been intangible if he was time erasing instead. time skipping everyone (including himself) would be good for confusing enemys whilst commiting an action (like cutting off Trish's hand off unnoticed).
