Hi, my friends... It's great to be here with you again! 🙋🏻‍♀️ I hope you're having a great week so far, and that you've had some good reading too! Let me know what books you're enjoying at the moment. 📚 Reading adjacent, I have this to share today... My new Japanese language study workbook arrived in the mail! I've been learning hiragana via an online course, which has been good, but I found I needed something extra. My brain works best with a workbook to write in and work with in addition. I also purchased this set of flash cards. One side of the cards has the hiragana "alphabet," and the other side has the kanji "alphabet." The Japanese language is composed of three writing systems, so... It's a lot to learn! 😂 I'll be back with a video tomorrow, Friday, sharing my reading wrap-up for the month of January.

Hello, my Friends!🙋🏻‍♀️ I've been under the weather for several days. The flu has been making the rounds at our house, and now it's been my turn. Jet lag at the top of the month, now the flu and at the bottom of the month... January has been interesting! Today, I'm supposed to be filming my usual end-of-month wrap-up video to share on Friday. I'm afraid that's not happening today. 😢 And I'm still finishing up some reading, too. Including this LOVELY little book that's been keeping me company while sick — The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop by Takuya Asakura. 🌸 I do have a Read with Me video that will go out at the end of this week... so something for you! So my thought is to do a reading wrap-up and a current reading combo video as we turn to February. How does that sound? I do have lots for us going into February. I just need to stop sniffling and coughing first! 🤣As always, I thank you for being here... and I hope you all are having a good week and keeping well! 🙏

Hello there, Friends!🙋🏻‍♀️ I hope this week has been good for you so far. I can't believe we're already in the last days of January. And with that... My books for January, for the first instalment of my Reading Around the World project, finally arrived from the library. I requested them three weeks ago, and they still haven't arrived at my local library for me to pick up. But now--here they are! And I'm starting with the continent of Africa. A work of fiction set in Senegal, and another book of nonfiction. I hope I have time to read these and include them in my January wrap-up! 😂What are you reading this week?

Hello, my Friends! 😍The beauty of winter here is always surprising! ❄️ Morning on the fjord...with frost smoke drifting across the surface of the water and ice floes along the shore! ❄️This was the stunning view we met while on a walk. It has been cold here. -12/-14 degrees C / 10-8 degrees F. And we're having snow off and on this week. ❄️ I couldn't resist sharing this beauty... and Beauty is my Word for the year. I have some video clips of this, which should find their way into a vlog by month's end. ☺️ Happy Day!

Hello, dear Friends! ☺️ How are you? And how is your new year with reading going? 📚This week, my reading has begun with some Norwegian fiction. Ulvespor (Wolf Tracks) by Ingeborg Arvola, this is book 3 in the Sanger fra Ishavet (Songs from the Arctic Ocean) series. This is a work of historical fiction set in the 1860s, based on the author's great-great-great-grandmother, who was Kven. The Kvens are an ethnic group in Northern Norway. It is a fascinating and dramatic story! Sadly, this author has not yet been translated into English... I hope that will change, as Arvola writes wonderful, complex, emotionally engaging stories! Also this week, I'm reading a volume of manga in Norwegian, Silhuett av en Stemme, which in English is known as A Silent Voice. This is a series — very raw in its emotions — that follows a group of young friends and their trials. This is volume 5, and there are 7... so two more. I love reading in Norwegian!

Jane Austen by candlelight... and with a cup of tea, of course. 😉☕This week, I'm finishing Emma by Jane Austen, the final book in my Jane Austen/Regency-period reading project for this year. How quickly the time has passed, I can hardly believe it. It feels just right: this reading by candlelight, with a sense of tenderness as we near the year's end. And reading Austen has made her an excellent reading companion this year! On Friday, I will share a video with some thoughts about reading Jane Austen this year. 📚How has your week been so far?
