Where reading, writing, and the creative life meet — from Norway. 🩷
Hi, I’m Tracy, your literary companion here on BookTube. This is a space for a literary life — slow, thoughtful, and intentional. Think of it as a house built of books, with many rooms to explore: reflection, reading, creativity, learning, and quiet companionship.
Here, reading is more than a hobby — it’s a way of noticing the world, thinking deeply, and living deliberately. You’ll find reflective book videos, reading journeys, essays on creativity, and seasonal inspiration that shapes how I read, write, photograph, and even design my knitwear.
I’m an American living in beautiful Norway, and this channel is a place to cultivate curiosity, explore ideas, and celebrate a creative, thoughtful life. Whether you’re here for literary conversation, quiet focus, or inspiration for your own creative practice, you’re warmly welcome.
Welcome to my house! 🩷✨

Hello, lovely Friends! ☺️ Just sharing a few photos from an early-spring walk along one of our local beaches.
I will let the images speak for themselves. The seafoam looks like frothy, beautiful lace...
Happy Day!

Hello there, my Friends! 🙋🏻♀️Hope your week is off to a good start. And I hope you have some good reading ahead of you in April.📚 I've just brought home a few manga from the library to read this month. Thankfully, we can borrow books for 4 weeks. Some new-to-me series this time: Snow White with the Red Hair, Otomen, and I Am a Cat Barista. I've also borrowed volume 10 of A Sign of Affection, which has become one of my favourite series. Such great stories, and great artwork! ☺️
What are you reading at the moment? 📖

🌷Hello, my Friends! Sending along a greeting to anyone celebrating the Easter weekend, and wishing you many blessings of the holiday! 🌷
TJ & I (along with kitty Mochi) are looking forward to the long holiday weekend. Not much planned. Rest, relaxation, reading... all the good things. ☺️
📖 Today I have a video going up, in which I'm participating along with BookTube friend Paul's (of The Accidental Bookseller) invitation to talk about the books of my childhood... I hope you'll join me for the fun!

Hi, Friends! 🙋🏻♀️ How are you? I hope you are doing well and having a good week so far. Somehow, it's already the last day of March, and we turn the page to a new month tomorrow. With a change of month comes new reading.
For April, I'm adding something extra to my Japanese studies -- the decorative embroidery technique of sashiko. Sashiko can be decorative on its own, but it is also a beautiful method for mending garments. While Japanese food/food culture is my primary focus for my spring curriculum, I've been wanting to try sashiko for a long time. Spring feels like a nice time to try new things!
This book, The Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook by Susan Briscoe, is a great comprehensive guide to the art of sashiko, offering some history (very interesting!) as well as an overview of supplies, lots of sections with technique & various stitch styles, and some project ideas with instructions, supplies lists, etc. Nice projects! I've ordered some sashiko supplies to give this art form a try. I love the textile arts!
What are your plans for reading and life this spring? Or for autumn for Southern Hemisphere friends?
With LOVE,
Tracy 💖

🙋🏻♀️Hello, Friends! How are you? I hope all is well with you. I wasn't able to post or film as usual last week, but back now! And here we are, almost at the end of March.
✨At the end of the week, I'll have a Reading Wrap-Up video to share with you. It's been a good month of reading! In the meantime, as we segue into April, I have a book purchased back in December, as well as a few books I picked up from the library.
📖I'm just discovering the writing of American writer Stewart O'Nan, and very much looking forward to his latest novel, Evensong and an older novella, Last Night at the Lobster. And I also have two poetry collections by Norwegian writers to enjoy, Øystein Hauge and M. Seepola Simonsen.
📚 Please, share what you are reading at the moment... and I'd love to hear about your favourite reads from this month, too!
With LOVE,
Tracy 💖

Happy Friday, Friends! 😍Whew... It has been "one of those weeks" on my end here, where life has presented a lot of stumbling blocks in recent days, as well as dealing with the tender territories of grief and loss. Along with reading, I find solace in a long-time delight — knitting.
At the moment, I'm knitting a jumper/sweater... this is from the Caramel Sweater pattern by PetiteKnit. Knitting each stitch slows me down and helps recalibrate my jangled thoughts... 🧶
I know that some of you are fibre artists and craft enthusiasts. I would love to hear what kind of projects you're working on these days! But if knitting, wool and such are not your jam, what brings you solace, comfort and self-care along with reading?
Today I'll be sharing this month's reading vlog: A Very Bookish Day. This one is a little shorter than some of my previous reading vlogs, but I wanted to reach out and offer a touch of bookish care if you need some... 🤗📖

Hello, dear Friends! ☺️ As always, I hope you are doing well and that you're having a good week. I'd love to know how things are... and what you're reading! 📚
This month, some of my library requests via the inter-loan system have taken longer to arrive, but the manga selections finally did. This month I have A Sign of Affection volume 9—one of my favourite series. Also, A Silent Voice volume 7-- this is the last volume. And graphic novel Monstress volume 9: The Possessed -- the artwork in this series is just amazing!
Happy day... and happy reading!

✨Celebrating Women’s Voices for International Women’s Day!✨
This month, I’m focusing on literature by women, and this weekend, I’m excited to explore the works of Norwegian writer Vigdis Hjorth.
I’ll be reading Hjorth's 2022 novel Is Mother Dead (in English translation) and her powerful nonfiction book Kul I Brystet (Lump in the Breast), in which she shares her deeply personal experience with breast cancer. Both promise to be thought-provoking and well-written!
What are you reading for Women's Day? 📖
I hope all of you are having a good weekend! ☺️

Hello there, Friends! I have some fun news to share... I've started a Substack: tracysnordiclight.substack.com/
It will be a place that holds some of my writing — essays, reflections, poetry, reading notes, slices of life, and other creative inspiration — with each article featuring my own photography (no stock photos, no AI). I will share more about this in a video tomorrow.
I've always felt I express myself best in writing. So, the Substack will live alongside this space. If you feel drawn to linger a little longer with me, you’re warmly invited! ☺️You can receive my articles for free via email subscription. I've only just started with a couple of articles, but there will be more there soon.
As always, I hope you're having a good week, and now a new month has started too!
With LOVE,
Tracy 💖
